Rising Sun Regional Foundation sponsors Aquatic
Wildlife Facility and Shooting Sports Facility on Laughery Valley
F&G property in Ripley County, Indiana
Ripley Co. Soil and Water was consulted to select a pond
site several years ago.
A pond was planned on the property since its purchase in
1985 and implementation of this plan has been made possible by
all our past members and patrons with the generosity of the Rising
Sun Regional Foundation.
Without this intervention I calculate that the Rising Sun
Regional saved the organization about 65 years worth of raffles
to get to this point.
Wood Excavating clears
our best hollow to begin developing pond site on November 2, 2002
The photos below
show the pond nearing completion on November 9, 2002.
The pond is equipped with
a 12 inch overflow that allows the water to fill to 18 feet deep
which is 2 feet below the dam.
An added feature is a drain
down pipe to drain the pond when needed.

Other related portions of the overall project are a
Shooting Sports Facility and Access Road
from the Club House, across a large ravine to the side
of the property where the pond is located.
The Club property consists of 52 acres. The most useful
land will be available through this access.
Rising Sun Regional Foundation put the grant in the
Club's hands on October 23, 2002.
In less than three weeks, we have had the pond constructed,
the access road has been roughed in,
and the shooting range is about 80% excavated.
Support buildings and accessories are to be constructed
as weather and time permit.
