Pack 673

2002 Blue and Gold

This years Blue and Gold was a very special one for Pack 673. The theme for this month was Native Peoples.

Each Den picked a region within the United States and displayed items and information on Indian Tribes from within that region.

Tiger Dens 4 and 6 displayed art and vests from the South West.

From the Tribes of the Great Plains, Teepee Picture frames were make by the Wolves of Den 5.

Bear Den 2 made necklaces, carvings and drew pictures for their display of tribes from the South East.

WEBELOS I, Den 7 made clothing and ceremonial items that they wore for their display of items from the tribes of the Great Basin.

WEBELOS I, Den 1 made a Totem Pole and ceremonial headdresses representing tribes from the North West.

Cheif of Pack 673’s tribe, Akela, in full head dress prepares for the lighting of the “Spirit of Akela” ceremonial candle.

Akela watches as all 16 braves of the Wolf Clan come forward to receive their Wolf Badge.

2 braves from the Bear Clan of Akelas tribe receive the mark of the Bear before being handed their Bear badges.

All of the Wolves and Bears that earned their rank badges at this years Blue and Gold.

7 out of 8 members of the WEBELOS II, “Flying Eagles” Clan earned their “Arrow of Light” badges. Akela made each brave a special ”Arrow of Light” plaque complete with a handmade arrow banded with each braves achivements.

A special “Thanks” from Akela goes out to Chris Baltz for hand knapping the authentic points used for these arrows.

All 8 Braves of the WEBELOS II, Flying Eagle Clan, crossed over to local Boy Scout Troops during a “Flaming Arrow” ceremony.

Before “Crossing Over” each brave lite an arrow on the “Spirit of Akela” ceremonial candle then proceeded over the bridge to the awaiting Boy Scout Troops.
