Day Camp Patch and Wings

21 boys from Pack 673 enjoyed 3 days of fun, crafts and games at  “2001 A Cub Odyssey” Hoosier Trails Council Cub Day Camp at Camp Friendship.

Mr. John Popovich from Channel 9, WCPO News, Cincinnati showed up to camp to challenge 3 of the camps Cubs Scouts to the “Summer Games Challange”

2 of the 3 Cubs that took part in the Challange were from Pack 673.

Working of crafts was a popular station at the Day Camp. Here the younger Cubs make flying saucers complete with aliens while the Webelos worked on rubber band powered moon buggies and space dioramas.

Always learning. All the boys in the camp were broken up into “Dens”. Each den traveled from station to station. On the left the Cubs are learing First Aid/CPR. On the right was the Science/Nature station. The WEBELOS earned their Readyman Badge at the First Aid/CPR station

Archery Belt Loop

All the Cubs participated at the Archery Range. Special instruction was avalible from the camps Archery instructor. Each Cub earned his “Archery” belt loop at this station.

Shooting on the BB Gun Range and the Sling Shot Range. All participating Cubs earned their “BB Shooting” belt loop.

The Cubs were given rules and instructions on building a container at home that would house an egg for the egg drop. Many of the eggs survived the drop.

At the Physical Fitness station the boys prepare to run the obsticle course.

The Bottle Rockets were another popular station. Each Cubs decorated his own 2 liter bottle rocket and then launched it high into the air.

Time to cool off. Cool down stations, spraying a fine mist of water, were placed around the camp to give the boys a chance to cool off between activities.

Taking a break. Den 1, Bat Patrol and Den 7, Flaming Arrow Patrol from Pack 673, take a break in the shade. The Dens/Patrols were combined during Day Camp into the “Discovery Patrol”

At the Space Derby Station the boys made totems to hang their activity beads from and to use as indentification

Also at the Space Derby Station the boys build balloon powered space racers.
