Other Gullion Websites:

There is a difference of opinion on who the father was of Robert, Jeremiah, John and the Gullion sisters. I personally believe as my cousin Marilyn Abigt does, that there are not enough years to separate the generations if Robert, etc. were the children of Edmond, and the grandchildren of Henry.

The Gullion researchers who believe that Edmond Gullion was the father of Robert, Jeremiah and John, base this descendency on the indenture papers found in Fayette County, KY. But, I do not believe this is absolute proof that Edmond was their father, as there is the possiblity that he was their eldest brother who may not have had any children, therefore his estate would go to his siblings - who I believe to be Robert, Jeremiah, John and the girls.

But, this is what makes genealogy interesting, and so the search goes on...

My Canadian family began with the arrival of George Gullion to Canada in 1850. He had sailed from Stromness as an employee of the Hudson's Bay Company. He was hired to build riverboats and scows for use in the Canadian Fur Trade. He began plying his trade at Fort Edmonton, Alberta with his brother Jimmy Gullion, and eventually had his own shipyard at Athabasca Landing in what was then known as the NorthWest Territories. While other Scottish men working for the Hudson's Bay Company returned to their homeland, George married a (Cree Indian and French Canadian descent) woman named Marguerite Brabant and remained in Canada. One of his sons Johnny Gullion was an Indian Interpretor for the North West Mounted Police. Later this same man built a stopping-house on the rugged trail from Fort Edmonton to Athabasca Landing for travelers to rest. There are many interesting stories about this man, however he is not in my direct line which is as follows:

James Gullion m. Janet Scott (in Scotland)
George Gullion m. Marguerite Brabant
Frank Gullion m. Adele Nipshank (Cree)
Fred Gullion m. Carrie Yaromey
Ken Gullion m. Loretta Berezan
Kim Gullion m. Kevin Stewart
