Health Center, Inc. |

Community
Mental Health Center, Inc., is a private, non-profit
community mental health center dedicated to providing a full continuum of
mental health services. CMHC, Inc., helps a variety of clients meet the
challenges of living with short-term and long-term mental and emotional
problems. Our professional and support staff understand that it is not always
easy to deal with such problems, so we consistently strive to make clients as
comfortable as possible with the treatment process while also stressing that
their participation is essential for
the success of their treatment.
Outpatient
Counseling Services
If you are encountering stress or emotional
difficulties while carrying on your normal life, counseling sessions can help
ease the strain. Sometimes a problem can be resolved by talking with a friend,
family member or a member of the clergy. But if the problem is severely
distressing or shows no signs of improving, it is best to talk to a trained
professional therapist.
You may want to deal with problems encountered at
home, at work or in school. You may be troubled by depression, anxiety,
stress-related physical symptoms, lack of confidence, reliance
on drugs or alcohol, physical or emotional abuse in the present or in the past,
sudden changes in mood or behavior, or other problems. Whatever your difficulty
is, it deserves attention.

A rape crisis and domestic violence hotline and referral service, as well as
community education and prevention programming, are provided by CMHC's
Directions! program.
Trained volunteers provide both counseling and
referral for adolescent and adult survivors of sexual assault and domestic
violence. Hospital and court advocacy and support for friends and family of
survivors also is offered.
Programs presented in area schools work with
children to help them identify child abuse and to get help in stopping such
abuse, to build self-esteem and promote decision-making skills, and to clarify
issues surrounding sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape. Presentations to
community organizations are offered throughout the year upon request.

Inpatient
Services
Sometimes emotional problems become so severe that
a person cannot carry out normal, everyday activities alone. Hospitalization
usually is necessary in such a case.
The short-term intensive treatment offered by
CMHC's Inpatient Unit allows individuals to recover in a therapeutic
environment and learn new ways to solve problems. The warm, homelike setting
and the help of qualified staff enable clients to return to home and community
as quickly as possible. Most clients who seek inpatient treatment do so
voluntarily, and CMHC, Inc., works to safeguard
clients' confidentiality.
For information, or to make a referral, call (812)
537-1302.
