Ohio County

1-888-776-4786

The smallest county in Indiana offers terrain restful to its residents and visitors. Bordered by the Ohio River and two creeks, reaching up to rolling hills and rock outcroppings, it offers picturesque beauty as well as year-round opportunities for visitors. Rising Sun, the county seat and only city in the county, was founded in 1814. It is said the town came by its name when settlers caught a breathtaking glimpse of the sun rising over the Ohio River. There are an array of interesting things to see and do in Rising Sun and Ohio County, ranging from boating and fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities, to historic buildings, a museum, and unique gift, antique, and specialty shops to visit. Special events abound throughout the year.
