The Jennings County Literacy Council (JCLC) is housed at the Jennings County Public Library and is affiliated with the Jennings County United Way. The JCLC serves all of Jennings County, Indiana.

MISSION
The literacy council was formed by concerned citizens in 1984. Our mission is to increase literacy levels among the people of our community and to inspire a value of lifelong learning among all citizens.

If you are interested in being trained as a tutor or if you know someone who can use our services, you can contact Coordinator, Nancy Yheulon at the library by e-mail, or by calling (812) 346-2091 Ext 229.

SERVICES PROVIDED BY JCLC

Free confidential tutoring to clients 18 years of age and older.
Expanded programs:
- English as a second language (ESL) classes as needed.
- Intergenerational reading.
- Basic literacy tutoring.
- Jail literacy programs.

Council meetings are held monthly on the third Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 PM at the Jennings County Public Library, North Vernon, Indiana.
