Hi Everyone, 11-1-97 Eleventh in the series. The weekend was really packed. First my buddy Marlin flew his Cessna 172 out to the farm. First time "Heavy Metal" landed at Zigan's Space Port. Hour 38. Saturday I jumped into Marlin's plane and took some formation flying video of Dad flying Sky Arrow. First time I've been up in a light plane in over 2 years. Then Dad headed to Madison. And I had to figure out where the heck I was! I had concentrated on aiming the camcorder, I got disoriented. We had a GPS just in case, but I was able to spot a local town so we followed the roads back to the Farm. Hour 39. Dad is back and I notice some radiator fluid leaking out of the liquid cooled Rotax engine. Replace one hose that was rubbed thin, and tightened the hose clamp on the leaky one. Completed the rest of the inspection, and we are good to go. It is now Sunday afternoon and we headed over to North Vernon airport so Dad could do some heavy weight take offs. When Dad and Marlin landed, they found quite a crowd. Turns out it was North Vernon's grand opening of their new FBO building. So we just hung around until most folks left. Dad just flew around collecting more time. Hour 39.5. We load 170 of lead in the back seat, and Dad goes up to see how it would handle with the weight of another person in the back. Turns out it is even easier to fly! Hour 40! We take the lead out, and I jump in, camcorder in hand. Dad takes off and heads North of the airport. I was only able to fly for a couple of minutes because we were running short of daylight. What a blast! Dad lands, I jump out, Mom climbs in and they takeoff back to the Farm. What a weekend! We have completed the required 40 hours of Flight Test and completed another mile stone. Guess it is time for me to start working on my Pilot's license! Jim
