Howdy Everyone, 3-16-97 Eight in the series. Dave was home for the weekend (from France) for another milestone. We ran the engine today! The big hold up was me getting the wiring harness done in time so Dave could witness the big event. 95% of the harness is done. I still have to put connectors on for the strobes and the Nav lights. The only part not working as hoped is the electric flaps. I will have to ohm out that part later. The big push was to see a running engine. Once I had figured out that switches labeled "Ignition" were really kill switches I had spark, and 4 seconds of cranking the engine roared to life. I only ran it for 5 mins to let things warm up, (it is just above freezing here.) So far no leaks, but I'm a little worried that I'm not getting oil circulation as I should, because the filter and oil radiator was still cold even though the water temp had come up. I'll pull the oil filter and see if it has anything in it. The oil pressure gauge was real high. Matter of fact it looked too high. Just called me paranoid, but I rather not seize a new engine. Also this weekend I went to a Men's Conference. A Catholic version of Promise Keepers. Kind of cool to sing with 9000 other men. Sounded like one of the old Gregorian Chants. Real power. We pretty much packed Shoemaker stadium. (This is University of Cincinnati's home basketball court.) So life is good! (Even though work is spastic right now!!) Looks like I'll be heading back to France for another Control System Install. Assuming the sickness that has gotten a lot of people at work doesn't get me like my parents. Jim
