The Circle Goes On

The circle goes on.
One cold day, a Kitten was born.
28 years later, in blood and pain,
She gave birth to a new Kitten.
One day, she will have her own Kitten.
No beginning and no end.
The circle goes on.
She watches as her parents' love shatters
Into pieces on the floor.
What knows she of true love,
And of lasting commitment?
We teach what we are taught.
The circle goes on.
He views his son as an unwanted responsibility.
The slightest excuse
Brings pain and violence upon his son.
Fear is the lesson his son learns.
He will teach it well to his son.
The circle goes on.
"Please" and "Thank you".
"Do onto others as you would have them do onto you".
The lessons of the gentleman.
These are what he learned.
These are what he will teach.
The circle goes on.
For good or bad, it goes on.
It has always gone on as such.
We learn, we teach.
We pass it on.
But do we have to teach all we learn on?
The circle goes on.
She can not believe this is the way of love.
She reads romance novels, and fantasizes.
One day, she meets a hopeless romantic.
He teaches her the lessons he learned.
She smiles as she learns new lessons of love.
The circle goes on.
The son has his own son.
He sees the fear in his son's eyes.
He gets help in learning patience and tolerance.
He no longer teaches fear to his son.
And his son won't teach fear to his son.
The circle goes on.
But it doesn't have to turn the same way.
