Glory Days

When we were young,
And the sun shone on us,
We were immortal, and the world was ours.
I turned to you and said,
“These are our glory days.”
When you and I became one,
And the people came just to see us.
When the rice hit our heads,
I whispered to you,
“These are our glory days.”
When you held him in your arms,
And he smiled at you that first time,
And you knew we were immortal through him,
I smiled as I told you,
“These are our glory days.”
But that was long ago,
And as we see the end of life approach us,
I sit next to you, still holding your hand,
And whisper to you,
“These are our glory days.”
“You’ve told me that all along,”
You said, “I just don’t understand.
How can they all be our glory days?”
“Simple,” I reply “When we are together,
Those are our glory days.....”
