Part Three
Alexander Lasker smiled as his car pulled out of the prison's parking lot. "Of course I'm sure he's dead," he said to whoever was on the other end of the cellular phone. "Believe it or not, Jennifer Askton tried to kill her self. She'd be dead now, too, if the gun hadn't misfired. Everything is taken care of."
12:20 AM
"Hey, Josh, when is someone coming for her? We're not going to have to keep her all night, are we?" the guard said. "Josh?" he asked right before the purple glow enveloped him.
"Don't worry, I'm here to pick her up now." Adam said.
12:22 AM
Jennifer stared at the floor, her vision blurred by the tears flowing freely from her eyes. She looked up at the guard who came through the door. He was just a blur in his uniform. She looked back down at the floor.
She started when the guard gently lifted her face up, and stroked away the tears. "Hey, Lady, whatcha crying for?" Adam asked, with a smile on his face.
"You're..you're dead," Jennifer said. "I saw it. You must be a hallucination."
"No, I'm real. You know I've always been lucky. I'm just glad that gun misfired," Adam said.
"How could you know about that? You were at least unconscious then," she said.
"I was trying to keep the gun from firing, that's how I know," he said.
"Ah, your mantra. Again, you've saved my life," Jennifer said.
"And you always make mine worth living," Adam said.
1:00 AM
"So," Adam said, "where's your car at?"
"Right there," Jennifer said. "So, what are you going to do now?"
"Well, I plan to go straight. I've paid my debt to society. The doctor said I was dead, and I can't be tried for those crimes again," he said.
"I'm glad. But how will you make a living? I know that most of the money you got went to charities," she said. "How will you get by?"
He replied, "I kept the money from the last one. $750,000. I bought a house, and invested what was left. If that's not enough, Samuel Harden offered me a job once. Maybe the offer still stands."
9:00 AM
Alexander Lasker was not pleased at all. "What do you mean," he screamed, "Adam's still alive! I watched him get executed last night!"
"Well," Gordon said, "My source in the prison said that he evidently revived last night and left with Jennifer Askton."
"Gordon," Alexander growled, "get out of here."
Gordon quickly scurried out the door. Alexander picked up a glass and threw it against the wall. Why did things always work against him? Black Cloth was gone. He never had to worry about him again. Now he was alive and Alexander would have to do something about him.
He pushed the button on the intercom on his desk for his secretary. "Gwen, get me the Jendet project file. I need to contact a few people."
Well, that's it for part three. Feedback is appreciated. See you all next time.
