Milan teen dies from gunshot wound

According to information from Milan Police Chief Tom Holt, 16-year-old Adam Miller, died Sunday, August 22, at the University Hospital in Cincinnati.

Rescue 30 and Ripley County EMS responded to a shooting call Sunday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. to the intersection of State Road 350 and State Road 101 in Milan.

Chief Holt noted that witnesses said the gunshot wound to Miller was self-inflicted. He was transported via Air Care to Cincinnati, where he was later pronounced dead.

Miller was a student at Milan High School.

The shooting is being investigated by Ripley County Coroner Eric Karsteter, along with the Milan Police Department, Ripley County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police.

Officers met on Monday morning with Milan High School staff to assist counselors with students who are grieving from the tragedy.
