Christopher Lee Taylor, 25, an inmate at the Ripley County Jail, walked away from the Work Release Program last Saturday, March 19.

According to Ripley County Sheriff Bill Davison, Taylor was serving time, 90 days, on a misdemeanor charge of probation violation for criminal trespass. He began his sentence March 1, on the Work Release Program, meaning he would be incarcerated nights and weekends, and go to a regular job each day.

On Saturday, Taylor left the work release facility at the Ripley County Jail at 9:00 a.m. to report to his construction job in Aurora. However, at 6:30 p.m. that evening when he was due to return, he did not. Sheriff Davison noted that Taylor didn't show up for work that day either.

Prosecutor Ric Hertel filed formal charges of Escape, a Class D Felony, on Tuesday, March 22, and a warrant has been issued for Taylor's arrest.

If anyone has information on Taylor's whereabouts, they should call the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, 812-689-5555, or 812-689-5558, and ask for Sheriff Davison or Deputy Thomas Grills. Callers will remain anonymous.

Taylor is described as being 6'2" tall, and weighs approximately 275 pounds. He has green eyes, and brown hair. His last known address was 306 US 50 East, Versailles.
