According to Market Master Arlene Knudson, an informational meeting for the Ripley County Farmers' Market has been set for Saturday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m.

The meeting will be held at the Ripley County Fairgrounds Park Office in Osgood. Agenda topics will include: WIC information, location, times, rules/regulations, weights and measures.

Vendors wanting to be able to take WIC vouchers must attend the May 14 meeting.

The market at the Ripley County Fairgrounds Park in Osgood will begin June 11, and continue through October. It will be held on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

Another market location for consumers' convenience will be at the Milan Community Park on Wednesdays from 2:30 until 6:30 p.m. That one will begin in July and continue through October.

According to Knudson, the market will provide consumers with the
choice to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables directly from the farmer. Those wanting to use WIC vouchers to purchase fresh produce may do so with vendors who have been previously approved.

Knudson cited other advantages for consumers who purchase items from the markets. These include being able to buy items that have superior quality and freshness at reasonable prices.

"I'm excited about the Farmers' Market this year," concluded Knudson, who said this venue offers a great opportunity for both the buyer and the seller.
