Teen formally charged in stabbing incident

Richard "Ricky" Oldfield, Jr., 16, of Lawrenceburg, was formally charged in Ripley County Circuit Court on May 2, for his part in a stabbing incident that occurred on April 9.

Oldfield will stand trial as an adult and was charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery and two counts of Battery With a Deadly Weapon by Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel.

Oldfield will stand trial for allegedly stabbing Randy Eyler and Andrew Mathews, both 20, following a party at an apartment above the Old Brick Tavern in Penntown. Both men were transported to hospitals and have since been released.

According to Ripley County Sheriff Bill Davison, Oldfield paid $2,500 and was released from the Ripley County Jail on the same day the formal charges were filed.
