Pictures of Holton graduates donated to town

At the regular meeting of the Holton Town Council, a plaque was given to the council to be placed with the display of Holton High School class composites dating back to 1927. The display was donated by the Stratton family in honor of several of their family members who graduated from Holton. It has been placed in the foyer of the Holton Community Center.

The plaque reads: "In memory of...Dennis Stratton, Class of 1927; Olive Stratton Smith, Class of 1928; Grant Stratton, Class of 1933; John Raymond Stratton, Class of 1938; Frank Stratton Jr., Class of 1941; Leslie Stratton, Class of 1944, and their parents Frank and Amy Edens Stratton. It was dated June 7, 2005, and given to the town by Mike Stratton.

In other business:

· Frank Thompson, area director from Congressman Mike Sodrel's Versailles Office addressed the council. He told them he wanted to let them know the congressman's office was always open.

· The problems with delinquent bills was discussed. Council President Robert Furst noted that some money has been collected since letters have been sent. He further noted that those not responding will be filed against in Small Claims Court.

· Steven Troxell, town employee, resigned effective June 11. Billey Moore will take his place as well as stay employed as the town's marshal. It was also noted that Peggy Furst will take the position of Deputy Clerk in the absence of Velma Stickelman, clerk-treasurer.

· Marshal Billey Moore reported that the car camera and computer for the police department was in thanks to a grant from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation.

· Chains and locks were stolen at the community park.

· Discussion was held on continuing with sidewalk work through out the town.

· It was noted that a culvert on North Marion Street would be installed by the county.

· Wilbur Myers asked about moving a "Welcome to Holton" sign
on the west side of town. Furst noted if the sign was sitting on cemetery property it would be moved more to the west if need be.

In attendance at the meeting were: Council President Robert Furst, Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Peggy Furst, Council Members Rick Holman and Wilma Myers. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 12, at 8:00 a.m. at the Holton Community Center on Versailles Street.
