Eagles compete in summer baseball league

This summer the Jac-Cen-Del Varsity Baseball team is competing in the Hoosier Hills baseball summer league. The Eagles have a 9-2 record in the 20 team league.

The Eagles defeated the Owls of Seymour in their first summer league game by a score of 4-1. Jac-Cen-Del then split in a double header against South Dearborn. They lost the first game 10-5 and won the second game 4-3.

The Eagles then caught fire and won their next six games. Wins include a 12-9 victory over the Lawrenceburg Tigers, a 16-4 win over the Twisters of Oldenburg, and two 10-0 wins against Jennings County.

The Eagles also destroyed the Rushville #2 team by a score of 23-1 and defeated South Dectur 10-0. The Eagles got their second loss of the summer league against the South Dearborn Knights by a score of 11-6, but bounced back with a win against Rushville #1 team to give the Eagles a very good 9-2 record.

Brush Creek trap shooting team takes first place in Ceraland

Four members of the Brush Creek Scholastic trap shooting team competed in their first competition on Saturday, June 26 at Ceraland Park in Columbus, Indiana. Robby Young, Zane Grossman, Ben Labolt, and Dustin Duerstuck brought home the first place trophy with an average score of 168.5 out of 200 targets.

The Scholastic Clay Target Program is in its fifth year nationwide. This is the first year a South Ripley and South Decatur team has competed.

The program revolves around proper firearm safety and education. The team practices ten to twelve weeks of safety, procedures, and proper gun handling while shooting clay targets.

Their next competition will be July 16 at Fortville, Indiana during
the state championship. The team will compete in a 200 target event with all other teams in Indiana and the top three teams will advance to the National Championships in Ohio.

Other participants not pictured are Trent Herbert and James Herbert from South Decatur, Josh Auger, Isaac Everage, Sean Guenter, and Ryan Kohlmeier from South Ripley, and Phillip Reneke of Germany.
