Versailles Legion fights hard, but falls to St. Leon, Seymour

Versailles vs. St. Leon July 7

On Thursday night, July 7, the St. Leon Legion team came to Versailles, sticks in hand. They had 16 hits in just 6 innings.

Versailles never got anything started offensively and their defense struggled throughout the game.

Russ Steinhauer pitched the first four innings, allowing four walks and seven hits. Versailles only had one hit through the first six innings.

St. Leon's Legion team just overmatched the young Versailles team.

Versailles vs. Seymour July 10

Versailles surrendered two close games to the Seymour Legion team on Sunday afternoon, July 10. The lost by scores of 10-7 and 6-4.

In the first game Chris Buchanan was 3 for 3 and scored 1 run. Jake Lemon was 2 for 3, and Jake McConnell was 2 for 4.

Tim Burcham took the loss on the mound for Versaills. He pitched five innings and had three strikeouts.

Versailles was behind from the beginning and didn't rally until the seventh inning when they scored four runs on five hits.

In the second game Matt Disbro pitched five innings, allowing five runs, on five hits, striking out three.

Disbro was also 2 for 3 at the plate and had two RBI's. Bryan Marcum was also 2 for 3, and Scott Hobbs was 1 for 2 with a run scored.

Versailles held the lead until the fifth inning, but never regained it. Jake Lemon pitched the last inning for Versailles.

"We are still striking out too much and not putting the ball in play with runners in scoring position. There has been much improvement since the beginning of the summer but we have yet to put it all together," comments Coach David Burress on his team's performance throughout the summer.
