Be part of a mission trip without leaving home
Wanda English Burnett - Editor
While only a small percentage of people will
ever set foot on foreign soil to help others, you can be a
part of a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Chris Brown, who practices dentistry in Versailles, will
be taking some of his staff on this journey and is asking others
to become partners with them. He noted that there "is
a desperate need for over-the-counter medications that the
medical mission team will be using to care for the displaced
Haitians living there." Here's where anyone can partner
with Dr. Brown's group to make a difference. You can bring
any of the following medications and supplies to his office
at 823 S. Adams, Hwy. 421 in Versailles (next to the Family
Dollar Store).
Needed items include: ibuprofen (infant, kids, adult), aspirin,
Tylenol, Motrin, etc. (infant, kids, adult), antacid (both
once-daily and TUMS), vitamins (children and adult), cold and
allergy medication, cough syrup, anti-fungal cream (oral),
Selsun Blue, steroid cream, eye/ear drops, petroleum jelly,
Vaseline, Sulfar cream or Permetherin Cream, anti-scabies ointment,
Monistat for yeast infection, lotions (Eucerin, Lubriderm,
etc.), Pepto Bismol tablets, cash donations (to purchase medication
shortages), also eyeglasses and batteries.
Dr. Brown's group hopes to fill 21 suitcases with donated
items to help those less fortunate. He has participated on
trips such as this before and notes many of the people they
will be ministering to have never had any type of medical attention.
The group will be leaving on October 15, but due to customs
inspections they have to send the suitcases with supplies in
advance and will need to have those shipped early. Donations
are needed by September 12.
