After receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle, Osgood Deputy Chuck Peters made a stop near 700 North and Hwy 421, near Osgood, Sunday morning, September 4, that led to the arrest of Judy Goins, 57, of Twin Oaks.

Goins was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine precursors and possession of marijuana.

As Deputy Peters approached the vehicle, he noted several items inside that he knew were used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine. Through the use of Versailles Deputy Joe Mann and his K-9 unit, officers were able to find illegal drugs inside the vehicle.

According to Osgood Town Marshal Rodney Stepleton, officers believed Goins had dropped off a passenger at the Co-op on 421 near Osgood and was trying to pick up that person at the time of the stop. K-9 units from Osgood and Greensburg were used to search the area. While no one was found, officers did discover a plastic jug that had anhydrous ammonia in it. Stepleton noted that the ingredient is a key component used in the manufacturing of meth.

Marshal Stepleton noted that Goins consented to a search of her apartment where officers located marijuana and some other evidence "that is commonly used by persons that use drugs."

The case is still under investigation.
