On Saturday, September
17, Baylor Park at Milan was the site of a
Co-ed Invitational Cross Country Meet. The
Jac-Cen-Del Boys Team had been making positive
tracks for Coach David Bradshaw this season,
and again at Saturday's meet, they followed
course. The Eagles team scored a first place
win with a total score of 82.
The event was host to 11 other
schools including Brownstown which finished
in second place with 90 points. Third place
was taken by Switzerland County with 100, and
fourth to the Milan team with a score of 102.
Fifth place was the Raiders of South Ripley
at 114, and sixth place finishers were from
Centerville High School with 132. Rising Sun
took seventh with a tally of 134, followed
in eighth by Waldron with 169. The ninth team
to finish was Madison Shawe with a score of
204, tenth to Southwestern at 251, and in the
eleventh spot with a 252 count, was Lawrenceburg.
Howe runners scratched in the team tally of
the competition with less than five members.
Individually J. Smith of Brownstown
crossed the finish line first with a time of
16:24, second was a Milan runner, Adam Baylor
at 16:32. M. Crossman of the Brownstown team
finished third at 16:44. Fourth place was taken
by Centerville's J. Healton with a time of
16:45. The fifth and sixth place finishers
were from Jac-Cen-Del High School; K. Horan
with 16:53 and J. Eaton with the time of 16:55.
Milan Indian N. Hampton finished seventh at
16:56. Waldron runner D. Bandy with a time
of 16:57 finished eighth, and ninth spot belonged
to N. Roark of Milan with a time of 17:16.
Rounding out the boys top ten was J. Snow at
17:19 representing Switzerland County.
South Ripley Raider runners came
in at 11 and 12 in the persons of Erik Demaree
and teammate Ariel Lawburgh with times of 17:24
and 17:27. K. Leville of Shawe -17:28, J. Deckard
of Centerville -17:35 and T. Webster of Switzerland
County at 17:37 rounded out the first fifteen
of the field of 66 runners.
Times for the boys segment ranged from 16:24
- 21:52.
The Girls field consisted of 63 runners and
their finishing times ranged from 14:58 to 26:06.
The first place finisher at the 14:58 mark was
K. Kovert from Brownstown. Crossing the line
in second at a time of 15:04 was C. Saurhage
from Rising Sun, third was taken by A. Hon of
Switzerland County in 15:23. Finishing the race
in fourth place was C. Bowman from Rising Sun
at 16:02. Fifth to Brownstown runner C. Baker
in 16:50, sixth to Southwestern runner L. Kirby
in 16:52. Alisha Lord crossed the finish line
first for the Eagle girls unit in a time of 17:02,
for seventh place.
L. Robinson with a time of 17:03 from Brownstown
finished eighth. Ninth was captured by South
Ripley runner, Melanie Berry, with a time of
17:06. Also making the top ten in tenth was L.
Mitchell of Centerville, in a time of 17:17.
Finishing 11 thru 15; M. Menke of Rising Sun
- 17:27; A. Lunsford of JCD -17:29; C. Lamkin
of Rising Sun, - 17:31; H. Locke of Brownstown
- 17:32; and B. Van Bastelaer of Centerville
- 17:35.
The Rising Sun girls won first place for the
meet with 46 points. Finishing in second place
was Brownstown at 56. In the third place were
the Eagles of JCD with a 106 count. Fourth, Switzerland
County with 123 points. The fifth place finisher
was Centerville at 131, and in sixth was Waldron
with 146. South Ripley girls finished in seventh
with a count of 154. Southwestern came in at
eighth with 159. Howe and Madison Shawe scratched
in the team count for the lack of team members.
