Ann Ruggles
Ann Ruggles, 84, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at
the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. She was born near Grayson in Boyd
County, Kentucky on March 18, 1921 the daughter of Edward and Celia Nolan Fryer.
She was married to Herbert Ruggles on August 26, 1944 and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Virgil Ruggles and his wife Carol J. Ruggles
of Osgood, Donald Ruggles and his wife Carol A. Ruggles of Lincoln City; two
daughters, Kathy Bohlander and her husband Bruce of Avon, and Janie Grigsby and
Willie of Versailles; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother
Jim Fryer of Pierceville; four sisters, Maudie Morgan and Katherine Elliott both
of Tampa, Florida, Theresa Selke of Kokomo, and Josie Johnson of Napoleon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Leonard Fryer and her sisters
Goldie Lee, Lucille Broughtman, Lois Hudson, and Hazel Fryer.
Mrs. Ruggles was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 25 at the Cedar Creek Community
Church with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Brian Logan Gray
Brian Logan Gray, 35, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005
in Memphis, TN. Mr. Gray was born September 23, 1969 in Lawrenceburg, the son
of Ron and Linda (Disbro) Gray and they survive.
Mr. Gray was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Gulf War. He was a truck driver
in Pharr, TX.
Mr. Gray is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Gilbert Gray; maternal
grandparents, Charles & Gladys Berens Disbro and uncles Gary and Gene Gray
and Bill Disbro.
Mr. Gray is survived by sister Lisa Gray of Milan; brother Jason Gray of Sunman;
grandmother Evelyn Lane Gray of Versailles; nieces Kylan Gray/Brandt and Samantha
Jo Gray and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation is Tuesday, September 27 at 9:00 a.m. until services at 10:00 a.m.
at Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home, Versailles. Rev. Sherman Hughes will officiate.
Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted
by the American Legion Post #292, Dillsboro.

Dale Anderson
Dale Anderson, 65, of Milan passed away Monday, September 26, 2005 at Milan.
Mr. Anderson was born September 10, 1940 in Dearborn County, the son of George
and Ruth (Mullins) Anderson and they preceded him in death.
Mr. Anderson was a fireworks distributor for several years and a member of the
Sons of the American Legion.
Mr. Anderson is survived by two sons Brian and Robert Anderson of Muncie; one
daughter Linda Kneitl of Cincinnati, OH and three brothers John of Greenville,
OH, Larry of Dillsboro and Lloyd of Moores Hill.
Visitation will be today, September 29 from 5-7 p.m. (slow time) at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home, South Main Street, Milan. No funeral services are planned.
Donald Clinton Wolford
Donald Clinton Wolford, 83, of Batesville, passed away Sunday, September 25,
2005 at University Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Wolford was born May 28, 1922
in Decatur County, the son of Walter and Bonnie (Bostic) Wolford and they preceded
him in death.
Mr. Wolford married Mary Hammerle, May 30, 1948 and she died May 10, 1981. He
then married Ida Johnston October 15, 1983 and she died August 3, 2005.
Mr. Wolford was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific. He was retired
from New Point Stone Company. Mr. Wolford was a lifetime member of VFW#3183 and
POE#1130, Batesville.
Mr. Wolford was preceded in death by brother Merrill Wolford.
Mr. Wolford is survived by son Gary (Karen) Wolford of New Point; daughters Linda
Fassnacht (Brad) of West Lafayette and Barbara Krieger (Melvin) of Batesville;
brother Maurice Wolford of New Point and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 28, 2005 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral
Home, 500 W. Pearl Street, Batesville. Funeral services are Thursday, September
29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Burial will be in

Georgia M. Disney
Georgia M. Disney, 73, of Sunman passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at her
residence. She was born December 8, 1931 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of
Charles and Loretta Dickman Greenwell, both now deceased.
She married Paul E. Disney, April 16, 1949 in Lawrenceburg and he survives.
Mrs. Disney was preceded in death by son Paul E. Disney, Jr. and brothers Arthur
and Charles Greenwell.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Linda K. and Robert Ellison of Milan,
daughter and son-in-law Georgia LeAnne and Michael Bushorn of Milan, daughter
and special friend Joy Marie Disney and Chris Horton of Milan, daughter-in-law
Sharon Disney of Milan and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Disney retired from the Sunman Elementary School where she was a cook. She
was a member of the Sunman Community Church and the Leisure Ladies Club.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 23, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunman
Community Church. Dan Steffen, Pastor, officiated. Burial was at the Pilgrim
Home Cemetery in Negangard Corner.

Kenneth Robinson
Kenneth Robinson, of Corbin, KY, formerly of Versailles, passed away Tuesday,
September 20, 2005 at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Louisville, KY. Mr.
Robinson was the son of Charles and Bertha Robinson and they preceded him in
death.
Mr. Robinson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a coal miner.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by son, Robert Wayne Robinson and a brother,
William Edward Robinson.
He is survived by his wife Louise (Patton) Robinson of Corbin, KY; daughter Lora
Robinson of Corbin, KY; three sons, William Robinson of Manchester, KY, James
Robinson of Corbin, KY, and Michael Robinson of London, KY; two sisters Joy Gabbard
of Liberty, Betsy Lee of Milan and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, September 23, 2005 at Bowling Funeral Home, Louisville
KY. Delmon Sizemore officiated. Burial was at Locust Grove Cemetery in Louisville.
Otto Charles Rosfeld
Otto Charles Rosfeld, 77, of Metamora, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2005
at the Margaret Mary Hospital, Batesville. Mr. Rosfeld was born July 21, 1928
in Brookville, the son of Otto and Jcordelia (Schneider) Rosfeld and they preceded
him in death. He married Ella Marie Roelker, May 28, 1955, and she preceded
him in death on May 28, 1986.
Mr. Rosfeld was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Owens Corning Roofing
in Brookville. He was a member of the Batesville Assembly of God.
Mr. Rosfeld is preceded in death by brother Robert and sister Rita Firsch.
Mr. Rosfeld is survived by sons James of Metamora, Michael of St. Charles, MO
and David of Greensburg; daughters Kathy Sauerwein of Metamora, Lisa Dupree of
Londonderry, NH, Mary House of Louisville, KY and Linda Reali of Denton, TX;
brothers Frank of Connersville, Harold of West Alexandria, OH and John of Dayton,
OH; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Tuesday, September 27 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home,
Batesville. Funeral services are Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 10:00 a.m.
at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. John Church Cemetery with military
graveside rites.

Paul E. Eckstein
Paul E. Eckstein, 61, of Batesville, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005
at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. Mr. Eckstein was the son of
Joseph and Romilda (Gauck) Eckstein and they preceded him in death.
Mr. Eckstein married Rose (Hartman) Eckstein October 23, 1965 at the Holy Family
Catholic Church in Oldenburg and she survives.
Mr. Eckstein a veteran of the Indiana National Guard. He was the maintenance
supervisor for Sunman-Dearborn School Corporation for 26 years. He was a member
of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Franklin County Antique Machinery Club.
Mr. Eckstein is preceded in death by brothers Howard and Earl.
Mr. Eckstein is survived by daughter Beth Stone of Batesville; sons Paul Eckstein
of Oldenburg and Steve Eckstein of Batesville; sisters Sr. Helen Eckstein of
Oldenburg and Rosella Koehne of Batesville; and brothers Joseph of Wisconsin
and Anthony of Cincinnati and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, September 26, 2005 at St. Louis Catholic Church,
Batesville. Rev. Daniel Mahan officiated. Burial was in the St. Louis Cemetery.

(Rabbit) Hardebeck
Roy (Rabbit) Hardebeck, 85, of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005
at the St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon. He was born near Osgood,
December 1, 1920, the son of Albert and Clara Kelley Hardebeck.
Survivors include one brother Leo Hardebeck of Napoleon; two sisters Ruth Cole
of Holton ad Diana Shelton of Norfolk, Arkansas along with several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Danny Lee Hardebeck and
his sisters Hope Hardebeck, Colleen Elston, Vivian Sutton, and Jeanette Kluemper.
Mr. Hardebeck was formerly employed with Schuerman Farms at Osgood and had been
a logger with Ben Fangman in Osgood.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 26, 2005 at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial was at the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood.
Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian Church in care of the funeral
home.
Zola F. Davidson
Zola F. Davidson, 69, of Brookville passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005
at Margaret-Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born March 31, 1936
in Franklin County, the daughter of Elmer and Ella King Reese, both now deceased.
She married Lloyd Davidson, May 24, 1952 in Connersville and he survives.
Mrs. Davidson was preceded in death by sister Alvena Kelley and brothers Lucian
and Arlan Reese.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Jane and Jim Henson of Brookville;
son and daughter-in-law Steve and Levan Davidson of Dillsboro; sisters Dessie
Anderson and Roxzella Reese both of Brookville and Freda Kelley, living in Louisiana;
brothers Maynard Reese living in Florida, Melvin Reese of Grove Springs, MO and
Harold, Ralph and Ray Reese, all living in Brookville; two grandchildren and
three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Davidson was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Penntown.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the
Cook Funeral Home, Brookville. Steve Harlan officiated. Burial was at the Maple
Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

Albert F. "Bud" Moody
Albert F. "Bud" Moody, 86, of Batesville, died Saturday, September
17, 2005 at his home. His parents, Clarence and Edna Winegard Moody, are deceased.
Mr. Moody married Pat Ratz Moody, Batesville, on October 20, 1948, and she survives.
He is also survived by daughters Gretchen Cline of Batesville, Melinda Trenkamp
of Enochsburg and Bonita Hobbs of Osgood, sons John of Batesville, Michael of
Orlando and Bryan Moody of Cincinnati, and brother William Moody of Batesville,
ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by brother Alvin "Babe" Moody and sister Helen
Dragoo. Mr. Moody served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received five Bronze
Stars and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Prell-Bland American Legion Post
#271 and Ripley Co. V.F.W. Post #3183. He retired in 1986 from Canada Dry Bottling
Company. Visitation was Monday, September 19 at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral
services were today, Tuesday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Church
with burial at Batesville United Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Mahan officiated.

Hope A. McKittrick
Hope A. McKittrick, 85, of Milan, died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the Margaret
Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born December 7, 1919 in Oxford,
Indiana the daughter of Blaine Ridenour and Pearl Saunders, both deceased.
She married Lovell W. McKittrick and he preceded her in death on January 9,
1967.
Survivors include one son, Philip A. McKittrick and wife Sally of Milan; one
brother, Dave Ridenour of Milan; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; six
great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin brother, Robert Ridenour;
brother, Charles Bud Ridenour; two sons, Gerald Jake McKittrick in 1992, Curtis
Dale McKittrick in 1986 and one sister, Genevieve White.
Mrs. McKittrick along with her late husband owned and operated a dairy farm near
Milan for several years. She worked at the JayC Store in Milan for 30 years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Golden Rule Community Women's
Club.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 10 a.m. until the time of funeral
services at 11 a.m. at the Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home, Versailles. Rev. Lamar
Brown of the Milan Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the
Washington Baptist Church Cemetery in Elrod.
Memorials may be made to the Washington Cemetery Association or the Wesleyan
Methodist Church Youth fund through the funeral home.
Howard N. Mitchell
Howard N. Mitchell, 74, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2005
at the VA Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born at Ligon, Kentucky
on July 29, 1931 the son of G. Dewey and Catherine Tackett Mitchell. He was
married to Lola Newsome on September 19, 1951 and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Donetta Benham and her husband Jim of
Benham, Melissa Dunagan and Kurt of Benham, and Angela Sharp and Gene of Milan;
five grandchildren, Melanie Evans, Christina Moore, and Kimberly Benham all of
Benham, Tammy White of Dillsboro, and Stephanie Roberts of Lawrenceburg; five
great grandchildren; one brother, Claude Mitchell of Ligonier; two sisters, Etta
Gluba of Iowa City, Iowa, and Maudine Caudill of Prestonburg, Kentucky. He was
preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Toy and Lloyd Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the Korean War. In May of 1950 he was shipped to
Okinawa for occupation duty with the 29th Infantry. On October 9, 1950 he was
wounded while serving in the Puson Perimeter and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Versailles American Legion where he served as commander
in 1976, Milan VFW, Versailles F&AM #7, Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite,
York Rite, and the Murat Shrine.
Mr. Mitchell had been manager of Cuzzin Jacks Discount Store in Versailles for
several years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 18 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Glenn Hayes and Pastor Marcus Felde officiating.
Burial was in the Benham Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by
the Versailles American Legion.
Memorials may be given to the Versailles Fire Department or Rescue 69 in care
of the funeral home.

Robert E. Moore
Robert E. Moore 82 of Milan passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005 at Milan.
Mr. Moore retired as Athletic Director from the Elwood Community Schools. He
also had coached and taught history and drivers ed. He had previously taught
and coached at Westfield, Winchester and Tunnelton. He graduated from Elwood
High School, Canterbury College, Ball State University, and had attended Purdue
University.
After retirement, he worked for his son Charles in his funeral business. Mr.
Moore was a member of Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities; the Westfield
F&AM Masonic Lodge; Lions Club; Elwood Grace United Methodist Church; Elks
Lodge, and was past president of the Elwood Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Margaret (Graves) Moore; son Charles
G. (wife Janet) Moore of Milan, and daughter Lew Rita (husband David) Tudor of
Sheridan, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday September 20, 4-7:00 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist
Church in Elwood and Wednesday, Sept 21, 4-7PM at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home
in Milan. Services will be Thursday, September 22, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral
home. Burial will follow in Craven Cemetery at Milan. Memorial contributions
may be given in his name to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Vivian J. Annis
Vivian J. Annis, 96, of Bakersfield, CA, formerly of Osgood, died Wednesday,
September 15, 2005 at her home. She was born January 23, 1909, in Denbigh,
North Dakota, the daughter Ora and Stella Justice, both deceased.
She married Carl Annis of Osgood on February 24, 1928, and he preceded her in
death. She also is preceded in death by son Jim, three sisters Ora, Irene and
Anita, and three brothers Edgar, Howard and Bob. She is survived by brother Carl,
half-brother Eddie Adkins, two daughters Mary Hargitt and husband Jim of Noblesville
and Lou Monreal and husband David of Lake Forest, CA, two sons Bill of Rescue,
CA and John and wife Donna of Raleigh, NC, eleven grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Annis graduated from Milan in 1928. She and her husband moved in 1951 to
travel the country working on the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey.
Memorial services were held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield, CA, on
September 18, 2005.
Wesley John Coker
Wesley John 'Wes' Coker, 56, of Patriot, died Wednesday, September 14
William D. Ray
William D. Ray, 86, of Guilford, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the Waters
of Dillsboro Manor, Dillsboro. He was born May 10, 1919 in Ashtabula, Ohio
the son of William Ray and Millie West. He married Opal (Peters) Ray and she
preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, William O. Ray of Guilford, Kenneth W. Ray of Ft.
Thomas, Kentucky; one daughter, Kathi J. Kilgore of Traverse City, Michigan;
seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his wife, parents and one sister, Gladys Moeller.
Mr. Ray was retired from Seagram's as a utility worker.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 19, 11 a.m. at the Filter Funeral
Home, Aurora. Burial was in the Rising Sun New Cemetery, Rising Sun.

Funeral services for Charles E. Boggs, age 77 of Aurora, were held Sunday, September
11 at 5 p.m. at the Filter Funeral Home in Aurora.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene K. (Boggs) Cutter of Bennington, Carol
A. Boyles of Aurora; special companion, Irene Spaulding of Aurora; one sister,
Doris (Fuller-Weaver) Weaver of Milan; and one grandchild.
Clarence W. Corya
Clarence W. Corya, 87, of Butlerville, died Sunday , September
11, 2005 at Hospice of South Central Indiana, Inpatient
Facility. He was born September 30, 1917 in Commiskey the
son of Albert and Viola (Moody) Corya. He married Alice
May Hayton Struben and she survives.
Other survivors include one step-son, Wallace Richard Struben
of Scipio; a step-daughter Sherry Campbell of Columbus; six
grandchildren, Richard Lee Struben of Germany, Chrystal Struben
Hall of Indianapolis, Robbie Struben of Scipio, Tara "Campbell" Linney
of Kentucky, Tara Campbell of Columbus and Kim Struben Gray
of Scipio and seven great-grandchildren and three nephews.
His parents, a brother James Corya, sisters Ethel Hoffman,
Lelia Stout and Marjorie Trapp, and niece Anna Mae Corya
preceded him in death.
Mr. Corya was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Cummins Engine
Co. in 1983 after 27 years service. He was a member of First Christian Church,
and was Past Master twice at the Butlerville Masonic Lodge. Visitation is today
from 4-8 p.m. at Pickett Funeral Home, 209 S. State Street, North Vernon, IN.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am. Burial with military graveside
rites will be at Otter Creek Cemetery. Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Memorials

Joseph Newton Winnie
Joseph Newton Winnie, 66, of Wyandotte died Monday, August 29, 2005 at Integris
Grove General Hospital.
He was born January 12, 1939 in Claremore to Clarence and Gladys (Zane) Winnie.
He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1957 and attended the University of
Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. He worked as a tire builder for B.F. Goodrich and
worked in management for Wal-Mart and the gaming industry.
Survivors include one daughter and husband, Candace Rene and Joey Williams of
Miami; three sons, William Chad Winnie of Fluker, LA, Joseph Charles Winnie and
John Clarence Winnie both of Grove; two sisters, Ramona Daniel of Tahlequah and
Geraldine Walker and husband Henry of Milan; ten grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Pogue; his parents;
three sisters, Gladys Preston, Betty Cassady and Kathleen Winnie; and one brother,
Ronald Winnie.
Services were held at the Apostolic Assembly Church in Miami with the Rev. Phil
Shyers officiating. Burial was in the Wyandotte Cemetery with Indian rites conducted
at the graveside.
Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami was in charge of the arrangements.
Orville Robinson
Orville Robinson, 73, of Florence, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at his residence.
He was born September 9, 1931 in Mt. Eden, KY the son of Leonard Robinson and
Bertha Gregory Robinson, both deceased. He married Bonnie L. (Ware) Robinson
on October 7, 1995 and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Helen Wainscott and husband Bill of
Vevay, Kathy Wyatt and husband Stan of Sanders, KY, Deanna Robinson Jones and
companion Chris Dolby of Ghent, KY; two step-daughters, Chrissy Nichols and husband
Joe of Florence, Tracey Hiles and companion Hollis Rabler of Aberdeen, OH; two
sisters, Lorraine R. McKee of Vevay, Marie Searcy of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren;
four step-grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two step-great-grandchildren; several
sisters and brothers-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Perry and Edna Mae Case; four brothers,
Walter S. Robinson, Davis Robinson, Grotis Robinson and James "JB" Buford
Robinson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hurvy and Pearlie Ware.
Mr. Robinson was employed as a truck driver for several years with Blue Flame
Gas. He then operated Ray's Package Store in Vevay for 17 years and Cuzz's Bar
in Vevay for a year. He went to work as an operator with the Indiana Department
of Transportation Aberdeen Unit for 17 years. He was inducted into the U.S. Army
on July 18, 1950 serving during the Korean War rising to the rank of Private,
then Staff Sergeant and on May 26, 1953 to Corporal. He served in C Battery 77
FA Battalion APO 201 and was honorably discharged on July 17, 1953 from Camp
Carson Colorado receiving the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal
with one Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal, the Presidential

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 11, 2 p.m. at Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home in Vevay with Bro. Roy Duckworth officiating.
Burial was in the Vevay Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Vevay
American Legion Post #185.

(Armstrong) Skirvin
Patricia A. "Patty" (Armstrong) Skirvin, 57, of Hanover, died Wednesday,
September 7, 2005 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky. She was
born September 25, 1947 in Vevay the daughter of Martin T. Armstrong and Nelrose
L. Scott Armstrong Mefford. She married Ira L. "Bubby" Skirvin on November
5, 1964 and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Lee Skirvin and girlfriend Linda Rowe of Hanover;
one daughter, Martina Gale Skirvin of Columbia, KY; mother and step-father, Nelrose
L. and Tom Mefford of Madison; one sister, Rosie Adams and husband Ed of Madison;
nieces and nephews, Bobby and LaVerne Adams, Kevin and Elizabeth Skirvin, Wanda
and Tex Stockdale; one sister-in-law, Beulah Schoonover and husband David and
family all of Vevay; and several aunts, uncles and other relatives. She was preceded
in death by her father, Martin T. Armstrong.
Mrs. Skirvin was a homemaker and a member of the Truth Apostolic Church in Vevay.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 9, 1 p.m. at Morgan-Webster-Nay
Funeral Home in Madison with Rev. Charles R. Wilks officiating.
Burial was in the Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg. Memorials may be made to

Steven Dale Long
Steven Dale Long, 65, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, September 8, 2005 at his residence.
He was born April 4, 1940 in Cincinnati, OH the son of Dale Long and Mabel
Long. He married Della M. Speer and she survives.
Other survivors include one step-son, Patrick Speer of Beverly Hills, CA; his
mother, Mabel Long of Dillsboro; one sister, Kay (Lowell) Raffignone of Dillsboro;
and one brother, Mikel (Lavern) Long of Pennville. He was preceded in death by
his father, Dale Long.
Mr. Long was a 1958 graduate of Dillsboro High School and also a graduate of
the University of Indiana. He retired from Pharmavite Corporation in San Fernando,
CA and also served in the U.S. Army from January 7, 1963 to October 30, 1968.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 12, 11 a.m. at Dillsboro United
Methodist Church.
Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials may go to the Dillsboro
United Methodist Church.

Helen M. Baldwin
Helen M. Baldwin, 96, of Zenas, passed away Wednesday, August
31, 2005 at her residence. She was born near Westport in
Decatur County on June 3, 1909 the daughter
of Jessie "Abe" and Anna Hilbert Ponsler. She was married to Denver
H. Baldwin on December 21, 1929 and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Survivors include one son Marvin Baldwin and wife Alberta of Zenas; one daughter,
Carol Sporleder Stratton of Holton; grandchildren Lt. Col. Richard Baldwin and
wife Mary of Altus, OK, Ronald Baldwin and Elaine of Austin, TX, Robin Walderhaug
and Mark of Silver Springs, MD, David Sporleder and wife Mickey, Dwayne Sporleder
and Patty, Donald Sporleder and Robin, all of North Vernon; twelve great-grandchildren;
two great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren;
five step-great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harlace Ponsler of North
Vernon.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons-in-law Paul
Sporleder and Leslie Stratton, Sr.; grandchildren, Catheryn Marie Baldwin and
Daryl Dean Sporleder; step-grandson, Leslie Scott Stratton; brothers, Harry Ponsler
and H. Harold Ponsler; and sister, Hazel Ponsler.
Mrs. Baldwin was a 1927 graduate of Zenas High School and had been an active
member of the Zenas Baptist Church since 1929. She was a homemaker, charter member
of the Columbia Extension Homemakers Club and was also a member of the Jennings
County Farm Bureau. She was a local artist and a former 4-H leader.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 3 at 11 a.m. at the Zenas Baptist
Church with Rev. Jack Suits and Rev. Charles Cole officiating.
Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery near Westport. Memorials may be given to
the Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Zenas Baptist Church in care of the
funeral home.
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of the arrangements.
