Alexa Lynn Ertel
Alexa Lynn Ertel, infant daughter of Eric and Tami (Douglas) Ertel of Osgood, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at Margaret Mary Hospital, Batesville.
Alexa is survived by her parents and sister Ericka Catherine Ertel. She is also survived by maternal grandparents Charles and Doris Douglas of Napoleon; paternal grandparents Keith and Dee Ertel of Napoleon; paternal great-grandparents Stanley and Martha Ertel, and Polly (Back) Holbrook.
Graveside services were Saturday, October 22, at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Napoleon, with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, handled the arrangements.

Charles C. Rohlfing, Jr.
Charles C. Rohlfing, Jr., 72, of Milan, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Cincinnati Hospice, OH. Mr. Rohlfing was born March 17, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA, son of Charles Rohlfing, Sr. and Ethel Runk Rohlfing Maloney, and they preceded him in death. He married Jacqueline (Landis) Rohlfing of Milan on May 28, 1955, and she survives.
He is also survived by sons Charles C. III and wife Kathy of Madison; and Steven B. and wife Fran of Georgetown, KY; brother James H. Rohlfing of Laramie, WY; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Rohlfing was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee and was chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He was vice-president of the Milan School Board; chairman of the Ripley County Board of Zoning Appeals; member of the Hay and Forage Committee; the Ripley County Community Foundation; and a cattle farmer. Mr. Rohlfing was retired from Procter & Gamble where he was a Senior Purchasing Agent for 40 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. (slow time) at the Milan United Methodist Church. Funeral services immediately follow with Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, is in charge of arrangements.

Delno Gray Howlett
Delno Gray Howlett, 85, of Indianapolis, died Friday, October 21, 2005. Mr. Howlett was a former resident of Versailles.
He was married to Mary Howlett and she survives. Survivors also include son Denver Howlett; stepdaughters Cindy Lou Price and Susan Lloyd; stepson Daniel Smith; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by first wife Iris O. Howlett and daughter, Sharon Watson.
Mr. Howlett was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of Bethany Christian Church. He was a custodian for Indianapolis Schools and formerly worked in building and construction.
Graveside services were Monday, October 24 at Tanglewood Cemetery in Versailles. Funeral services were held today, Tuesday, October 25, at Shirley Brothers Thompson Road Chapel in Indianapolis.

Earl Alfred Noyes
Earl Alfred Noyes, 83, of Greensburg, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Greensburg. He was born December 1, 1921 in Rexville, the son of Elmer and Rosa Blanche Shaddy Noyes and they preceded him in death.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister Geneva Shanks.
Mr. Noyes was an Anesthesiologist and past Registered Nurse having worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, KY and Providence Hospital in Kansas City, KS. He also did volunteer work for the homeless and at the Free Clinic in Kansas.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 24 at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Burial will be at the Old Benham Cemetery in Versailles.
Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, Oldenburg.

Mark Thomas Demaree
Mark Thomas Demaree, 35, of Madison, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at the University of Louisville Hospital, KY. Mr. Demaree was born July 17, 1970, son of James and Linda (Skelton) Demaree, and they survive.
He is also survived by daughters Rachel and Chelsea of Madison; son Aaron of Madison; sister Angie Demaree of Madison; fiancÈe Missy Stancill and her children Heidi and Cory of Madison; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Demaree was preceded in death by grandparents James and Helen (Bishop) Demaree and Mackie and Evelyn (Scobee) Skelton.
Mr. Demaree was a graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a former mechanic for M&M Towing and Recovery, and later worked as a dryer operator for Robus Leather.
Funeral services were Monday, October 24, at Vail-Holt Funeral Home in Madison with Pastor Nancy Harmon Chizmar officiating. Burial was at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Ralph L. Richter
Ralph L. Richter, 88, of Sunman, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at his residence. He was born October 30, 1916 in Penntown, the son of Edwin and Mae Schaefer Richter. He married Gertrude E. Bass on September 21, 1940 at St. Mark's Church, Batesville and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna F. and Alan McCool of Sunman, Gayle K. and Carl Johnson of Connersville; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Terrif Richter of Sunman; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one sister, Lucille Freyer of Sunman. His parents, one sister, Irene Bass and brothers, Wayne and Leroy Richter preceded him in death.
Mr. Richter was a retired farmer and truck driver for Yelton Trucking of Aurora. He was a member of the Sunman Fish and Game Club.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Sunman with Pastor Juanita T. Wallpe officiating. Burial was in the St. Stephens Cemetery, Spades. Memorials may be made to the Sunman Life Squad or the Sunman Volunteer Fire Department.

Sr. Mary Virgine
Finkbiner

Sr. Mary Virgine Finkbiner, O.S.F., 93, of Oldenburg, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at Sisters of St. Francis Convent Infirmary, Oldenburg. She was born February 3, 1912 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Watters) Finkbiner and they preceded her in death.
Survivors include sister-in-law Mary Ellen Finkbiner of Indianapolis, nephew Charles Finkbiner of California and niece Mary Ann Roberts of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by brother Frederick Finkbiner, and sisters Sr. Ruth Finkbiner and Sr. Margaret Finkbiner.
Sr. Finkbiner was a retired teacher. She taught in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and New Mexico. She entered the convent September 6, 1930 and made her final vows July 2, 1936.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 24 at Srs. of St. Francis Motherhouse Chapel, Oldenburg with Rev. Carl Hawyer, O.F.M. officiating. Burial was at the St. Francis Cemetery.

Jack Kober Coppage
Jack Kober Coppage, 81, of Madison, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 at his residence. He was born on June 29, 1924 in Madison, the son of Jesse Arthur and Minnie Katherine Kober Coppage and they preceded him in death. He married Bernice Ilene Sage on August 27, 1948, and she survives.
Mr. Coppage is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Sheryl and Dave Henry of Madison; and Pamela and Kenny Coker of Madison; three sons Patrick of Madison; Kevin and companion Linda Stewart of Madison; Tommy and Lanee of Madison; one sister Jessie Adams of Santa Rosa, CA; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by sister Dorothy Watson, two brothers Warren and Tommy Coppage.
Mr. Coppage was a 1942 graduate of Madison High School and worked at the Kingsbury Ordinance in LaPorte until he was inducted into the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served during WWII, rising to the rank of Electrician's Mate Third Class and receiving the WWII Victory Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He worked for Barber Grocery until 1974, then at the Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion in Madison as the manager until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion, where he was honored with 60 years of continuous membership on March 15, 2005.
Funeral services were Sunday, October 16 at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison with Pastor Ernie Lamb officiating. Burial was at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, with full military honors.

Roy Edward Heck, Jr.
Roy Edward Heck, Jr., 40, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2005 in an automobile accident. He was born on June 30, 1965 in Lawrenceburg, the son of Rickie Lynn Bladen Heck and she preceded him in death. He married Christina Tucker Heck of Osgood and she survives.
He is also survived by son Anthony Scott Heck of Osgood; daughter Melisa Ann Heck of Osgood; sister Bobbie Heck Baker of Lawrenceburg; mother-in-law Connie Kelley of Napoleon; and, father-in-law and mother-in-law Colin and Diane Tucker of Niles, MI.
Mr. Heck was also preceded in death by brother Joseph Edwin Heck.
Mr. Heck worked at Trauth Dairy of Osgood for 15 years, then as a truck driver for Laughery Valley Co-Op.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, October 18, at 2:00 p.m. slow time at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Osgood. Burial will be in Flatrock Cemetery in Osgood. Neal's Funeral Home in Osgood will handle the arrangements.

Virginia F. Harmeyer
Virginia F. Harmeyer, 85, of Dillsboro, passed away Sunday October 16, 2005 at her residence. She was born on September 14, 1920 in Dillsboro, the daughter of John and Minnie Daugherty Stevens and they preceded her in death. She married Carl Harmeyer and he preceded her in death in 2001.
She is survived by daughter Cherie L. Rump of Dillsboro; sons Gerald of Connersville, Larry Gene of Lawrenceburg and Steve of Dillsboro; brothers Earl, Paul and Delmar Bine Stevens of Dillsboro; sister JoAnn Reif of Milford, OH; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Harmeyer was preceded in death by sisters Inez Calender and Ruby M. Clayton and brothers William and David.
She was a graduate of Dillsboro High School and a homemaker.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, October 18 from 5-8:00 p.m. (EDT) at the Ulrich Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro. Funeral services are Wednesday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) at Dillsboro United Methodist Church.

Wilma Louise Glenn
Wilma Louise Glenn, 86, of Vevay, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 at King's Daughters' Hospital, Madison. She was born on August 15, 1919 in Anderson, the daughter of Walter and Emma Brown Russell and they preceded her in death. She married John O. Glenn on November 8, 1941, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1992.
Mrs. Glenn is survived by daughter Elizabeth Hall of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters Mary Shaul and Alice Arnold; three brothers William, Lester and Harry Russell; and one granddaughter Michelle Rene Glenn.
Mrs. Glenn retired from General Motors in Anderson where she was employed as an inspector. She attended the Milton Wesleyan Holiness in Milton, KY for many years and then was a member of the Ebenezer Wesleyan Holiness Church in Moorefield.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 15 at the Ebenezer Wesleyan Holiness Church, Moorefield with the Reverend David Dicken officiating. Burial was at the Caledonia Cemetery near Moorefield. Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Adah Ehlers
Adah Ehlers, 92, of Versailles passed away October 6, 2005 at the Waters of Ross Manor, Dillsboro. She was born near Holton on May 20, 1913, the daughter of Robert and Mamie Platt Cole. She was married to Estol Ehlers on February 14, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1974.
Mrs. Ehlers is survived by two sons, Marvin Ehlers of Versailles and Robert Ehlers and wife Peg also of Versailles; three grandsons Aaron, Joseph and Shawn Ehlers and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mildred Werner and her brother Omer Cole.
Mrs. Ehlers was a 1932 graduate of Holton High School and graduated from Central Normal Teachers College in Danville. She started her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse at St. Magdalene near New Marion. She also taught at Napoleon, Holton, Versailles, Moores Hill, and retired from Dillsboro. She was a member of the Shelby Christian Church, Correct Homemakers Club, and the Ripley County Retired Teachers. Mrs. Ehlers was also a licensed beautician and during WWII worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Camp Atterbury.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with Pastor Marcus Felde of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.

Judie Adams
Judie Adams, 63, of Milan passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She was born March 25, 1942, the daughter of Paul and Edna (Wininger) Collins who preceded her in death. She married William H. Adams on January 9, 1960, and he also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Adams is survived by three sons Mark of Cross Plains, Ronald of Osgood and Andrew of Richmond, KY; three daughters Kim Prather of Milan, Ann Adams of Rising Sun and Lisa Collins of Versailles; four brothers Richard of Seattle, WA; David of Versailles; Robert of Vevay and John of Holton; five sisters Trudy Savage of Greendale, Margie Bleier of Erlanger, KY, Eileen Oliver of Anchorage, AK, Susan Walker of Versailles and Sally Brogan of Vevay; 25 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams was a former driver for Head Start, a cake decorator and worked the past 16 years for Charlie and Janet Moore. She was a member of the Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial was at the New Craven Cemetery, Milan.

Marian E. Eggleston
Marian E. (Hubbard) Eggleston, 75, of Addyston, OH, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2005 at her son's residence in North Bend, OH. She was a former resident of the Versailles area. She was married to Charles A. Eggleston and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Eggleston is survived by sons, Albert and wife Kimberly; Todd; Ralph and wife Nancy; and Nathan and wife Lori; daughters, Mira Mason, Cara Dreyer and husband Robert; sisters, Florence Adams and Lucretia Eggleston; brothers Richard and Everett; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Eggleston was a homemaker and a member of the Addyston United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were today, Tuesday, October 11 at the Dennis George Funeral Home, Cleves, OH. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery, Cleves, OH.

Paul W. Hough, Sr.
Paul W. Hough, Sr., 84, of Hanover passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Clark County Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville. He was born April 13, 1921 in Waynesville, OH, the son of Verne and Arilla Bernice Cornell who preceded him in death. He married Wilma L. Thomas on June 22, 1940 and she survives.
Mr. Hough is survived by daughter Charlotte Ann Hubbs and companion, Frank Taff of Madison, two sons Larry and wife Linda of Lebanon, OH and Paul Wm. "Bill", Jr. and wife Kathy of Fairdale, KY; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; six nieces and three nephews; and, special neighbor, Virgil Morgan of Hanover.
Sister Louise Alderman and brother Forrest preceded him in death.
Mr. Hough was the Manufacturing Superintendent at Reliance Electric Company and a member of North United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were Friday, October 7, 2005 at Vail-Holt Funeral Home Madison Chapel with Rev. Randy L. Jungkurth officiating. Burial was at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Dougherty

Ethel Florence Dougherty, 96, of Aurora died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born May 1, 1909 in Alderson, WV, the daughter of Ida and Harry Thompson who both preceded her in death. She married Glenn Dougherty and he also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dougherty is survived by sons David of Alexandria, VA, Clark of Lacey, WA and Gene of New Bern, NC; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dougherty was a sales clerk in Goldsmith Store.
Visitation will be today at the Filter Funeral Home, 310 Fourth Street, Aurora from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. (EDT). Services will be at the funeral home a 2:00 p.m. with burial at the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora.

James E. Billman
James E. Billman, 48, of Moores Hill, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Milan, October 24, 1956, the son of John and Dorothy (Rub) Billman. He is preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Billman married Annette M. Schell of Moores Hill and she survives.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Billman of Dillsboro; daughters Candace, Cyndal and Michala of Moores Hill; brothers Don and Mike of Dillsboro, Ken of Milan and Paul of Moores Hill.
Mr. Billman was a 1974 graduate of Dillsboro High School. He was a union carpenter and a member of the Local Southwest Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 1 at Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, Aurora.

James Lowell
Tucker, Sr.

James Lowell Tucker, Sr., 84, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at his residence in Washington. He was born October 1, 1921 in Jennings County, the son of Ora Elmer and Cora (French) Tucker, both deceased. He married Grace Louise Hull February 1, 1942 at Union Flat Rock Baptist Church and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons James and wife Flora of Tallulah, LA, and Thomas and wife Cecelia of Martinsville; two daughters Karen Johnson and husband Ronald of Dalton, GA, and Denise and husband Charles Odell of Washington; sister Verna Hull of Punta Gorda, FL; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by four brothers Lester, E.J., Donald and Osa; three sisters Rose Eye, Lottie Johnson and Virginia Mae Nagle.
Mr. Tucker was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from General Electric, and was a self-employed watch maker. Tucker was a member of the Central Christian Church and former member of the Morristown Christian Church. He belonged to the Morristown American Legion Post and the Lions Club.
Visitation will be today at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, 402 East Bennett Street, Westport from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. James Payton officiating. Burial will be at the Union Flat Rock Cemetery with military graveside services.

Loren E. Rhoads
Loren E. Rhoads, 77, of Milan and formerly of Delhi, OH, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born February 2, 1928, Bainbridge, OH, the son Arland and Rila (Morris) Rhoads who preceded him in death. He was married to Rosemary Moseman who also preceded him in death.
He later married Nancy L. Scheidt and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons Larry and wife Nancy of West Chester, OH and Gary Buzz Gasnik of Lawrenceburg; two daughters Patricia and husband Gary Boyle of Florence and Kristina Gasnik of Deer Park, OH; brother Sam of Springfield, OH; two sisters Paulene Rhoads of Augusta, GA and Evelyn Grammer of Los Angeles, CA; nephew James A. and wife Linda Rhoads of Pueblo, CO; cousin Lloyd Campbell of Bainbridge, OH; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Rhoads was a retired millwright with Ford Motor Company in Sharonville. He was a member of the Milan Cornerstone Baptist Church, UAW Local 863, and a life member of the NRA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 5 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. (slow time) at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 500 Franklin Street, Milan with services following with Brother Rick Mosley and Tom Holt officiating. Burial will be at the Olive Branch Cemetery, Batavia, OH.
Memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

William J. Weberding
William J. Weberding, 88, of Batesville, died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. He was born October 20, 1916 in Batesville the son of Anthony Weberding and Frances Fragge Weberding, both deceased. He married Monica Dirks Weberding on June 8, 1940 at the St. Louis Church, Batesville and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Struewing and Shirley Hannebaum, both of Batesville; three sons, William G. "Buzz" Weberding, Terry Weberding, Timothy Weberding, all of Batesville; two sisters, Ruth Hoff, Mary Luhring, both of Batesville; two brothers, Charles Weberding of Cincinnati, Robert Weberding of Batesville; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Weberding was the founder and chairman of Weberding's Carving Shop in Batesville. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville and the Knights of St. John and Knights of Columbus.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 3 at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville with Rev. Bill Farris OFM officiating. Burial was in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Batesville. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis School or Batesville EMS 10.

William W. Morin
William W. Morin, 84, of Lapel, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville. He was born January 8, 1921 in Carrolton, KY, the son of Ray and Lillie (Kelly) Morin who both preceded him in death. He married Esther Morin and she preceded him in death.
He later married Junya Adams Blake and she survives.
Mr. Morin was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He retired in 1984 from Reynolds Farm Equipment in Fishers and was then employed by the Lapel Post Office. Mr. Morin was a member of the Zion Unto Christ Church in Markleville and the Anderson V.F.W. Post 266.
Mr. Morin was preceded in death by his brother Robert; three sisters Alma Pyles, Hattie Calhoun and Goldie Thompson; grandson Christopher Armendariz; and son-in-law Robert Brantlinger.
Mr. Morin is survived by son Dennis of Lapel; daughter Judy Brantlinger of Lapel; four stepsons Doug Blake of Selma, Mike and Steve Blake of Pendleton and Joe Blake of Lafayette; two sisters Rosella Giddings of Noblesville and Velma Ghourley of Decatur, TN; brother Allen Morin of Middletown; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, October 4, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Services will be held Wednesday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Emory Reece officiating. Military graveside rites and burial will be at the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles on Wednesday, October 5 at noon.
