Donald F. Bruns
Donald F. Bruns, 75, of Greensburg died Monday, October 24, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Bruns was born March 11, 1930 in Millhousen, the son of Dr. Alfred J. and
Margaret (Witkemper) Bruns, and they preceded him in death. He married Dorine
Scheidler on April 7, 1951 in Greensburg, and she survives.
He is also survived by sons Bert and wife Linda of Greensburg; David of Union
City; Paul and wife Mary of Greensburg; daughter Debra Herndon of Greensburg;
brothers Ralph and Dale of Millhousen; and Robert of Greensburg; nine grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by sister Marita Heidlage.
Mr. Bruns worked as a masonry contractor with Bruns Brothers. He then owned and
operated Don Bruns & Sons Implement Dealership in Batesville. He was a member
of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the NRNA and
AQNA.
Funeral services were today, Thursday, October 27 at the St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Burial was at the
St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Hospice, St. Mary’s Church
or the St. Mary’s School.
Louise Marie Scheyer
Louise Marie Scheyer, 56, of Cincinnati, OH, died Monday, October 24, 2005 at
her residence. Miss Scheyer was born January 9, 1949, the daughter of Louis
and Beulah (Clark) Scheyer, and they survive.
She is also survived by step-father Howard Wessel of Batesville; sister Janet
Scheyer of Cincinnati; step-sisters Linda Nicholson of Lawrenceburg, KY; Pamela
Hursh of Indianapolis; and Sandra Eckstein of Batesville; seven nieces and nephews;
three great nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by sister Judith E. Scheyer.
Miss Scheyer was secretary for Federated Department Stores for over 25 years.
Funeral services were today, Thursday, October 27 at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville.
Burial was at the St. Paul Cemetery, Crossroads.

Reta Demaree
Reta Demaree, 69, of Rexville, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at her residence.
She was born at Benham on April 5, 1936 the daughter of Basil and Eva Welch
Steele. She was married to Virgil Demaree on January 15, 1954 and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Carl Demaree and wife Sandy of Madison, Robin
Demaree and wife Missy of Canaan; one daughter, Evie Sanders and husband Mike
of Versailles; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren;
five step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Steele of Fountaintown and
Arthur Steele of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Gladys Hayes of Benham and JoAnn
Brinson of Versailles.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Albert and Russell
Steele.
Mrs. Demaree was a 1953 graduate of Versailles High School. She had been employed
with the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles and also with US Shoe in Osgood.
She had also worked as a beautician in Madison and Versailles. She was a member
of the Versailles Church of Christ and attended the Concord Wesleyan Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Troy Whitham of the Concord Wesleyan Church
officiating.
Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, October 27 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the Concord Wesleyan

Ruth Caroline (Althoff) Ashbaugh
Ruth Caroline (Althoff) Ashbaugh was born on January 31, 1933 in her parent’s
home in Friendship. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio in 1954. Ruth married Jim Ashbaugh
on June 11, 1955.
In 1961 Ruth and Jim started their family with James Adam, then in 1963, John
Andrew, in 1966, Paula Marie, and in 1967, Hanne Beth. They lived in San Jose,
CA. Ruth began working again at the age of 40 at Palomar Hospital in Escondido,
CA. She was employed there for 30 years until her illness in January 2005, forcing
her to take a leave of absence. In addition to working and raising children,
Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, exercise and cooking. She attended
many operas, symphonies, musicals and other cultural events with Jim and the
family. In 1989 Ruth became a grandmother and has enjoyed spending time with
her three grandchildren, Shane, Molly and Hailey.
She is also survived by two brothers, Paul Althoff and wife Ruth of Greenwood
and Gilbert Althoff and wife Joyce of San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death
by a sister, Marie Konkle.
In January 2005 Ruth was diagnosed with non-specific cancer. She fought and was
cancer free by August. Unfortunately the treatment took its toll and she endured
other ailments as a result. She died on the 17th of October and went on to live
a new life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Memorial services were held Sunday, October 23 at the Lutheran Church of Incarnation
in Poway. The family has requested donations to be sent to the Elizabeth Hospice,
150 W. Crest Street, Escondido, CA 92025 or the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation,
16889 Espola Road, Poway, CA 92064-1533.
Virginia Mae Newman
Virginia Mae Newman, 73, of Osgood, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at her home.
She was born November 22, 1931 in Cinco, WV the daughter of Sidney and Thelma
Belcher Pittman, both deceased. She married Robert E.R. Newman on March 20, 1948
and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Melvin Newman of Whitestown, Sidney Newman
of Indianapolis; two daughters, Valerie Benham of Osgood, Joyce Greene of Osgood;
three sisters, Linda Pitsenburg of Cleveland, OH, Phyllis Cambell of Cleveland,
OH and Nancey Landers of Minter, OH; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Newman was a mother and housewife. She was a National Honor Student of Dupont
High School in West Virginia, was the supervisor and proof reader at Indiana
State House & General Assembly from 1980 to 1988, was formerly a member of
the Plainfield Assembly of God and later joined Cedar Creek Community Church
in Osgood.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 12-2 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral
Home in Osgood.
Funeral services will follow visitation on Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may go to
the Cedar Creek Community Church.

Bill” Harbert
William Richard “Bill” Harbert, 76, of Vevay, formerly of Veedersburg
and Covington, died Monday, October 24, 2005 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville,
KY. He was born December 5, 1928 in Decatur County the son of Roy C. Harbert
and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Evans Harbert, both deceased. He married
Rose Marie Childers Weber Harbert and she survives.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William Houghton and Elizabeth
Harbert of Henderson, KY; one daughter, Jacquelyn A. Baker of Irving, TX; step
son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. and Mary Weber of Covington; one sister,
Gloria Foster of Richmond; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Ruth Harbert
of Paducah, KY; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren;
and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by
his first wife, Shielda Lockwood; one brother, Donald Harbert; one step sister,
Leona Mae Harbert; and one step brother, George Thomas Harbert.
Mr. Harbert attended the Nazarene Pilgrim Holiness Church near Greensburg. He
was a professional photographer and opened Colorcraft Video in Vevay and Rising
Sun in 1985. He then opened From the Heart & Creative Images in Vevay operating
it until his death. He was a member of the Covington Lions Club, the Kiwanis
Club of Vevay serving as president in 1990 and 1991 and also serving as the chairman
of the Children’s Christmas Party. He had also served on the board of the
Vevay Switzerland County Foundation for three years, the Professional Photographers
of America, and the Professional Videographers of Indiana.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 5-8 p.m. (slow time) at Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home in Vevay.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 11 a.m. (slow time) at the
funeral home with Rev. Roger Parrott officiating.
Memorials may go in memory of William to the Kiwanis Club of Vevay.

Harry Courtney
Harry Courtney, 88, of Vevay, passed away Monday, October 17, 2005 at Hanover
Nursing Center, Hanover. He was born on November 14, 1916 in Madison, the son
of Samuel and Lydia Ann (Haskell) Courtney and they preceded him in death.
He married Glenna Frances Stoner on June 3, 1939 in Madison, and she preceded
him in death on April 8, 1989.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Patrick Wayne and Debbie Courtney of
Madison; granddaughter Megan Enfinger; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Courtney was preceded in death by brothers Freddie and Sam Courtney, Jr.
Mr. Courtney was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a commercial fisherman, retiring
at age 80. He also worked for the Town of Vevay Police Department, served as
a guard for Deputy U.S. Marshall Deb Loos, and worked security for Kentucky Utilities
Ghent Power Plant. In the 1930's and 1940's he owned Devil's Backbone in Jefferson
County.
Funeral services are today, October 20, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) at the Morgan-Webster-Nay
Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, with Reverend Howard V. Bell officiating.
Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.

Paul Hollandsworth
Paul Hollandsworth, 75, of Sumter, South Carolina passed away Tuesday, October
18, 2005 at the Toumey Hospital in Sumter. He was born at Erlanger, Kentucky
on March 3, 1930 the son of Daniel and Dorothy Wilson Hollandsworth. He was
married to Edythe Franklin of Holton on December 22, 1951 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Helen Shockley of Erlanger and Ruth Barlow
of Florence, Kentucky.
Mr. Hollandsworth was a 28-year Air Force veteran where he retired as a Senior
Master Sergeant. He served in various places throughout the world including Texas,
Nevada, Nebraska, South Carolina, Florida, England, Japan and Vietnam. He was
a member of the Hillcrest Masonic Lodge in Dalzell, South Carolina and the Columbia
South Carolina Consistory Scottish Rite.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home, Versailles with Rev. Bob Harting of the First Baptist Church in
Osgood officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. with Masonic
services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery with military graveside
rites conducted by the Versailles American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Home in care of the
funeral home.

Roy C. Nunlist
Roy C. Nunlist, 46, of Oldenburg, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at his residence.
He was born October 23, 1958 in Batesville the son of Gerald Nunlist and Dorothy
(Johnson) Nunlist and they are both deceased.
Mr. Nunlist is survived by one daughter, Jana Hager of Albuquerque, New Mexico;
one brother, Michael Nunlist of Oldenburg; two sisters, Jo Ann Peters of Metamora
and Geralynn Goldsmith of Oldenburg and two grandchildren.
He was a groundskeeper for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and was
a member of the Holy Family Church.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 21, at the Holy Family Church, Oldenburg
from 9:00 until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Humbert Moster
will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Walter George "Bud"
Keller
Walter George "Bud" Keller, 81, of Madison, passed
away Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at his residence. He was born
on February 6, 1924 in Ryker's Ridge,
the son of Earl S. and Nina Alliene Ryker Keller and they preceded him in death.
He married Helen Long on December 3, 1944 and she survives.
Mr. Keller is survived by two sons Mike and wife Robin of Hamilton, OH; and Keith
Wayne of Madison; daughter Susan Lee and Charlie Smith of Madison; brother and
sister-in-law David and Marcia Keller of Derby, KS; sister-in-law Virginia Facemire
of Madison; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,
one step great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Besides his parents Mr. Keller was preceded in death by two sisters Francis Tingle
and Nina Maddox.
Mr. Keller attended Central High School on Ryker's Ridge. He served in the U.S.
Army in WWII and received the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater
Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Award. Mr. Keller was a farmer,
and was a school bus driver for 33 years. He was a member of the Madison VFW
Post 1969, the Monroe I.O.O.F. Lodge #2 and a board member for the Jefferson
County Farm Bureau.
Visitation is Thursday, October 13, from 5-8:00 p.m. (EST) at the Morgan-Webster-Nay
Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison and Friday, October 14 from 9:00 a.m.
until time of services. Special services will be conducted by Monroe I.O.O.F.
Lodge #2 on Thursday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services
will be Friday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Glasgow
will officiate. Burial will be at the Ryker's Ridge New Cemetery, Ryker's Ridge,
with graveside military rites conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Mildred Betty Noble
Mildred Betty Noble, 82, of H olton, died Tueday, October 11, 2005. She was born
December 20, 1922 in Deer Park, Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Elijah and
Electra Myers, both deceased. She marrried Shelby Maupin and he preceded her
in death. She later married Charles Everett Noble and he preceded her in death
in January, 1995.
Survivors include three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and two great
great grandchildren and one sister, Della Marie Bauer of Elsmere, Kentucky. She
was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Marie Maupine on September 6,
2000 and one sister, Dorothy M. Wendling.
Mrs. Noble was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 15, at 11 a.m. at the Versailles
Church of Christ with Brother Dale Day officiating.
Guy Pollard
Guy Pollard, 76, of Pierceville, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the
Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was born at Lockland, OH, on March 4, 1929,
the son of Estol and Cordelia Burk Pollard. He was married to Joan Walke on
March 24, 1951 and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2000.
Survivors include one son, Gary Pollard and his wife Michelle of Indianapolis;
three daughters, Kathie Thornton and her husband Jerry of Pierceville, Kim Roberts
and her husband Mark of Little Rock, AR, and Tammy Day of Daytona Beach, FL;
nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Pollard
of California and Ken Pollard of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Dorothy Gutzwiller
of Cincinnati, OH.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Pollard was preceded in death by his daughter,
Pam Smith.
Mr. Pollard was a veteran of WWII where he served as a flight surgeon attendant
in the Army Air Corp. He was a retired production supervisor for American Radionic
in Palm Coast, FL.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
Eugene L. McPherson
Eugene L. McPherson, 93, of Sunman passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 at the
Margaret-Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. He was born November 13, 1911
in East Liverpool, WV, the son of Frederick and Lona Cooper McPherson, and
they preceded him in death. He married Ruth V. Scott who preceded him in death
on August 23, 1995.
Mr. McPherson is survived by son and daughter-in-law Fred and Carolyn McPherson
of Rising Sun; brother Cliff McPherson of N. Platte, NE; two brothers-in-law
John Scott of Greenfield, IL and Bill Scott of Homasassa, FL; several nieces
and nephews and special friend, Mary Stahle of Sunman.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Gillis Brightson and brother, Duane McPherson.
Mr. McPherson was the retired founder of McPherson's Printing. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of WWII, serving with the Third Army overseas with General Patton.
Mr. McPherson was a member of the Sunman Community Church, 50-year member and
Past Commander of Kenneth L. Diver American Legion Post #337, Sunman Lodge 590
F&AM and Past President of the Southeastern Indiana Shrine Club.
Funeral services were today, Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Cook Funeral Home
in Sunman with Pastor Dan Steffen officiating. Burial was at St. Paul Cemetery
in Sunman with military honors by Kenneth L. Diver American Legion Post #337.
Memorials may be given to the Sunman Life Squad or Sunman Community Church.

Judie Adams of Milan passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Christ Hospital
in Cincinnati, OH.

Nadah
Holman
Nadah Holman, 81, of Versailles passed away Monday, October 3, 2005 at Manderley
Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Oolitic, Indiana on January 3,
1924 the daughter of A.J. and Huldah Edens Meadows.
She was married to Kenneth Holman on February 14, 1942 and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Diane Meisberger and her husband John
of New Marion and Ellen Baugh and her husband Lester of Seymour; four grandchildren,
Stacy Holdsworth and her husband Brian of Zionsville, Jason Meisberger and Becky
of Greenwood, Kara Patrick and Derek of Seymour, and Kristen Baugh of Bloomington;
one great-granddaughter Jocelyn Holdsworth; two sisters Doris Murray of Brownsburg
and Ilene King of Versailles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John and Virgil Meadows,
and her sisters Donetta Heacock, Rosamond Waters, Lucille Newhart, and Lorene
Ehlers.
Mrs. Holman was a 1942 graduate of Holton High School and was a member of the
Shelby Christian Church. She had formerly worked at a canning factory in Sheridan
and was a cook at Madison State Hospital. She had also been employed with Conn
Organ and Maucher Real Estate.
Arrangements will be made by Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles. Funeral
services will be held at the convenience of the family with Brother Earl Thomas
officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Jennings County Hospice.
