The Eagle Varsity Boys' team went
to work diligently on the Trinity
Lutheran team, winning by 22 points
at 72-50 on Saturday, December
10.
Brandon Gehl, a
6'1" sophomore
forward topped the Eagle scoring
output, connecting for 21 points.
Tucker Brown, at 6'3", the
junior center had another high
output night adding 19, and senior
guard Adam Vollmer at 5'8" added
13 for 53 points of the Eagle 72
point total for the game.
First quarter scoring found the
Eagles leading by 8 points, 21-13.
The 13 points scored by Trinity
Lutheran was from a 7 point out
put by Dan Pinnow's shooting 3
FG's and connecting for 1/2 free
throw attempts. The 6 remaining
points for Trinity came from the
3 point shot, a FG, and 1/2 free
throws made by Ben Otte for a total
of 13.
The Eagle scorers in the first
quarter were Tucker Brown with
3 FG's and 2/2 FT's, Brandon Gehl
with 4 FG's, Adam Vollmer scored
a 3 pointer, and Justin Huff added
a FG for a total of 21.
Second quarter scoring pushed
the Eagles yet farther into the
lead to the point of doubling,
out scoring their opponents 25-10
for a half time score of JCD 46
to 23 for Trinity.
The 25 point scoring by the Eagles
in the second was the result of
2 FG's by Brown, a FG and a FT
by Cody Horn, a Tyler Bradshaw
FT, 2 FG's by Gehl, a FG and a
3 pointer by Huff and with the
high point count for the quarter,
Adam Vollmer added 8 points off
2 - 3 point connections and a FG.
The 13 points scored by Trinity
Lutheran came from Ryan Stein,
Kyle Klosterman, and Pinnow each
adding a FG, Bill Jaynes made 1/2
FT's, and Alex Franke sank 3/4
FT's.
The third quarter scoring took
the Eagle lead to 60-27 behind
a 14-4 run by JCD. The fourth however
gave Trinity a glimmer of hope,
as they out scored the Eagles 23-12,
giving the final score some flare
of respect.
Scoring for Trinity in the second
half came from a FG each by Tom
Shroer and Pinnow, a pair of FG's
by Michael Healy, a 3 by Otte,
4 FG's from Jaynes, and 2 FG's
and 4/4 FT's from Franke for a
27 point half.
The Eagles added 3 FG's and 1/2
FT's by Brown. Senior Blake Billman
scored a FG and 2/3 FT's, Gehl
for 7/8 FT's and a FG, and a FG
each by Huff, Vollmer and Horn
for a 26 point second half.
