The Class 1A, #1 ranked, Hauser
Jets lit at the Jac-Cen-Del gym
on Saturday afternoon, February
11, to find it gut check time for
them as the Eagles were up and
ready for the contest. At games
end a winner was established on
the scoreboard as the Jets narrowly
escaped with a 1 point advantage
at 59-58, but obvious to those
in attendance, equallity between
the two teams was evident in the
teams efforts and abilities.
Awestruck fans
watched as the game went back
and forth between
the Eagles and Jets. 6'3" Eagle
junior Tucker Brown had the chore
of defending Jet center Bobby Jolliff
at 6"8". By games end
Eagle Brown had accounted for 23
of the Eagle points as Jolliff
worked to score 24 for the Jets.
The 24 points scored by Jet Jolliff
were off 12 FG scores of which
included an ally-oop dunk in the
first quarter. I haven't witnessed
one of those since Joel Pflum played for the South Ripley Raiders and
it had the same effect as then
igniting his fans. EagleBrown amassed
his 23 points off 9 FG's, a 3 pointer,
and 2 FT's.
The second most
threatening scorer to the Eagles
for the Jets was
6'1" senior forward Zach Fugate.
Fugate amassed 18 points in the
Jet effort off 8 FG's and 2 FT's.
The other Jet scorers were Gabe
Miller with 9, Nick Long with 4,
and a FG each by Jordan Perkins
and Justin Baute for a 59 point
game total.
Eagle scores other than Brown's
23 were from Brandon Gehl with
12, Justin Huff 8, Kyle Horan 7,
Adam Vollmer 6, and 2 by Thomas
Wenning for the total of 58. Non-scoring
Eagles were Tyler Bradshaw, Coty
horn, Blake Billman, Daniel Leonetti,
Andrew Wagner, and Eric Horan.
Scores by quarter
break were as follows:
Eagles
14-10 Jets
Eagles 25-23 Jets
Jets 42-41 Eagles
Jets 59-58 Eagles
