Sewer ordinance heard at Napoleon meeting
Cathy May - Contributing Writer

The Napoleon Town Board had the first reading of their Comprehensive Sewer Ordinance at their March meeting. It states that anyone within the town limits of Napoleon and within 300-feet of the town's sewer line will have to hook up to the sewer at the owner's expense. Grease traps will be required for certain businesses and the town will have the right to come on the owner's property to inspect the grease traps. Also, storm or surface water is not permitted in the sewer system.

Another ordinance states that penalties for not obeying the Comprehensive Sewer Ordinance will be $500 per day, per offense. The second reading of the ordinances will be at the April town board meeting.

Rod Eaton, utility superintendent, said a pump had gone out. They were able to use the spare. The pump is now fixed. Eaton told the board he is looking at retirement within the next few years. The town will be looking at hiring someone to take over the gas and sewer departments when Eaton retires.

In other business: President Tim Brancamp reported that all yield signs in the town will be replaced with stop signs.

A claim was approved for Howard Barth and Associates for $742. The claim was for recalibration of a stream gauge.

Danny Coleman wanted to know if the alley on the east side of his property has been vacated. The alley runs north and south. Coleman wants to add a deck onto his property. Brancamp will check with the town attorney to see if the alley has been vacated.

Two of the three town board members, Tim Brancamp and Gerry Linarducci, were present. Clerk Treasurer Karen Rohlfing was also present to advise the board. The next regular meeting of the Napoleon Town Board is scheduled for April 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Napoleon Senior Center.
