Mildred E. Butte
Mildred E. Butte, 90, of Milan, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007. She was born March 5, 1916 at Milan, the daughter of Myron and Flora Coffee Knowlton, both deceased. She married Charles Butte and he preceded her in death in April, 2005.
Survivors include sons Glenn and wife Dixie of Batesville and Bill and Linda of Milan; daughter Ruth and husband Harley White of Osgood; brother Floyd Knowlton of Walnut Creek, CA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Willie Knowlton and sister Ruth Cole.
Mrs. Butte was a homemaker and co-owner and operator of Butte Trucking. She was a member of the Pierceville United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. Mrs. Butte helped her husband farm, and was an avid flower lover.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 3 from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Pierceville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Jack Bible officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Pierceville United Methodist Church, the ’54 Museum, Inc., or donor’s choice.

Luther E. Taffe
Luther E. Taffe, 82, of Milan, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was born at Guilford on October 15, 1924 the son of Harry and Emily Wiemar Taffe, both deceased. He married Edna Grossman on November 14, 1942 and she survives.
Survivors also include son Leslie and wife Carol of Greenfield; brother Gene Taffe of Milan; grandchildren Cheri Furgason and Brian Taffe; and great-grandchildren Kyla Taffe and Connor Furgason.
Mr. Taffe was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantry Badge and other medals. He retired from Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg. Mr. Taffe was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at Milan and the Disabled Veterans #75 at Aurora.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 26 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milan with Pastor Richard Mackey officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by the Milan Legion Post #235.
Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Association.

Harold A. Fraasman, Jr.
Harold A. Fraasman, Jr., 63, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007. He was married to Janet Swinford Fraasman, and she survives.
Survivors also include son Harold S. Fraasman, Sr. and wife Shannan; daughters Denise and husband Kevin Wamsley and Pamela and husband Dave Ashcraft; grandchildren Nikki DeBaun, Buddie Fraasman, David Ashcraft, Felicia Fraasman, Aften Ashcraft, Doug and Carly Wamsley; and sister, Virginia Ault.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 23 at the Radel Funeral Home in Cincinnati, OH.

Anna L. Ayres
Anna L. Ayres, 71, of Versailles passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at St. Andrews Health Care in Batesville. She was born at Miamitown, Ohio on May 2, 1935 the daughter of Harry and Mabel Smith Rutz. She was married to Clarence Ayres on August 5, 1988 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2001.
She is survived by three sisters, Harriet Phillips of Dothan, Alabama, Rose Sidor of Hesperia, Michigan, and Edna Pritchard of Connersville, along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ayres was a homemaker and a member of the Shelby Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 19, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Minister Randy Thieman officiating. Burial was in the Shelby Cemetery.

Dawson W. Sullivan
Dawson W. Sullivan, 75, of Otterbein, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Heritage Health Care in Otterbein. He was born December 28, 1931 at Dillsboro, the son of Elmer and Hazel Agrue Sullivan, both deceased. He married Darlene Durflinger on June 9, 1957 at Mt. Gilboa E.U.B. Church and she survives.
Survivors also include daughter Denise Lynn and husband Jerry Hale of Brookston; sons Dale and wife Jane Sullivan of Kokomo and Daniel and wife Eileen of Otterbein; brother Denver and wife Ruth Sullivan of Osgood; sister-in-law Alene Sullivan of Otterbein; four grandchildren Christopher Hale, Sean and Cailtlin Sullivan and Autumn Anderson.
He was preceded in death by brothers Delbert and Dennis Sullivan and sister Dorothy Moberly.
Mr. Sullivan graduated from New Marion High School in 1951. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with the 494th Fighter Bomber Squadron from 1951-May 5, 1955. Mr. Sullivan was a shift engineer at Purdue for 37 years, retiring in 1995. He was a very active member of the Mt. Gilboa United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 10 at the Otterbein United Methodist Church with Pastors Kate Lehman Walker and Lee Emerson officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Gilboa Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may be given to the Mt. Gilboa United Methodist Church.

Ronald H. Baas
Ronald H. Baas, 63, of Sunman, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Batesville on October 14, 1943, the son of Herbert and Helen Myatt Baas.
Survivors include his mother Helen Baas; sisters Judy Bruns of Milan and Michelle Guenther of Sunman; brother Dennis Baas of Sunman; sister-in-law Donna Baas of St. Leon; two nieces and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Herbert Baas and brothers, Darrel, David and Donald Baas.
Mr. Baas was employed at Romweber Furniture in Batesville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 10 at the Cook Funeral Home in Sunman with Pastor Kirstin Springmeyer of St. John Lutheran Church in Hubbells Corner officiating. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Penntown.

Florence Bultman
Florence Bultman, 90, of Richmond passed away Friday, February 9, 2007 at her residence. She was born near Correct on July 23, 1916 the daughter of Carl and Rosa Schultz Diem. She was married to Estol (Red) Bultman of Napoleon on June 24, 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Survivors include her sister-in-law Alta Diem of Cross Plains along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Hugo, Herman, Otto, Henry, and William Diem, and her sisters Clara Jahnigen, Erna Werner, Lillian Feller, Bertha Marshall, and Lena Eaton.
Mrs. Bultman was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riggle-Waltermann Funeral Home in Richmond with Rev. Paul Mingus officiating. Burial will be in the Earlham Cemetery in Richmond. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m.

Irene M. Rumph
Irene M. Rumph, 97, of Osgood, and former long time resident of Dillsboro, died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital. She was born August 16, 1909, the daughter of J. Henry and Louise Nolker Knigga, both deceased. She married Loran F. Rumph, and he preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include daughter Karen and her husband Jerry McKown of Osgood; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brother Clamanz Knigga.
Mrs. Rumph was a school teacher in Milan. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and "Internationally Yours."
Funeral services were held Monday, February 12 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bear Branch. Burial was in the Althoff Cemetery, Bear Branch.

Charles E. "Sonny" Hampton, 65, of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

George Wayne Sanders
George Wayne Sanders, 49, of Alexandria, LA, died Thursday, February 1, 2007.
Survivors include daughter Azha Madison Sanders of Jackson, MS; sisters Mary Dalton of McAdams, MS; Linda Crouse of Dixon, KY; Sarah Gibbs of Osgood; and Rosemary Tharp of Shawnee, KS; and brother Jim Sanders of Phenix City, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rosemary Cagle Sanders and sisters Susan Seawright and Rose Dyson.
Mr. Sanders graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He was employed with B&T Grower Supply in Forest Hill, LA, as a graphic designer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 6 at the Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Koscuisko, Mississippi. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Shirley Irene Asche
Shirley Irene Asche, 89, of Greensburg passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born near Butlerville on June 20, 1917 the daughter of Russell and Sarah Anna Perkins Estell. She was married to Herschel Asche and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1992.
Survivors include one son, Larry Asche and his wife Millie of Anderson; two daughters, Linda Gibson and her husband Donahue of Westport and Janet Draping and her husband Gary of Greensburg; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren; brother Joe Estell and his wife Mae of New Marion.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Grace Kenens, and her brothers Arthur, Ray, and Edwin Estell.
Mrs. Asche was a homemaker and a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Smyrna.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Ron Hasley officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles.

Charles A. "Sonny" Yeary
Charles A. "Sonny" Yeary, 68, of Dillsboro died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Dearborn County Hospital. He was born February 18, 1938 in Big Stone Gap, VA. He married Pat Dunn on July 18, 1959 and she survives.
Survivors also include son Charles and his wife Connie Yeary of Dillsboro; daughter Jackie and her husband Jim Woll of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren; brother Carl and Kyle Yeary, both of Tennessee; and sisters Ann Kelly, Christine Johnson and Rose Blanton, all of Virginia.
Mr. Yeary retired from Alton Box Board in 1993 due to poor health.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Ulrich-Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Lonnie Shepherd
Lonnie Shepherd, 55, of Kernville, California, formerly of Milan, passed away January 9, 2007 at his residence. He was born November 1, 1951 at Fisty, Kentucky the son of Marvin and Jean Barker Shepherd. He was married to Leona Lee and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Jean Bockhorst of Milan; one son Marvin Lee Shepherd of California; three brothers, Calvin Shepherd of California, Dan Shepherd of New York, and Rodney Shepherd of West Virginia.
Mr. Shepherd was a 1971 graduate of Milan High School and operated a car repair and restoration shop.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
