South Ripley Raiders claim 3 of the 4 home games

South Ripley played host to the Milan Indian ball teams on Monday evening, Apri 30.
In 4:30 match ups, Lady Raider and Lady Indian varsity teams took battling positions on the fields. The varsity softball teams faced off at Ohio Rods' Darrel E. Scott Field, and simultaneously the varsity baseball teams squared off at Forest G. Waters Field at South Ripley High School.

Varsity Baseball
The Raider baseball team played to a 10-0 victory over the Indians, ending the game with the 10 run rule mid way through their last at bat. Starting pitcher for the Raiders was BJ Sieverding, with Tim Burcham filling the closer role.

Opening with the pitching role for the Indians was Brian Becker, with Todd Edwards finishing the game.

Varsity Softball
In varsity softball competition, the Lady Raiders appeared to be in tune for the evening, as they finished the first inning up by a score of 3-0.

Proving to be false hopes, the Lady Indians tied them and eventually gained control of the game.

To the dismay of the Lady Raiders' intial beginning, the Lady Indians took control of the game as it progressed, winning by a final score of Milan 12-5 South Ripley.

JV Softball Action
In JV softball action, the teams played to a tie late in the fifth and final scheduled inning of their game before the Lady Raiders surged to take the win 4-3 over the Lady Indians.

Pitching for the Lady Indian reserve was Becky Davis, and the Lady Raiders countered with starter Melinda Berry and closed with Chelsea Durham.

SR C-team Baseball Action
The Raiders claimed the home hosted game over the Indians by the score of 6-3.

OTHER RAIDER ACTION

In Raider baseball action on Friday evening, April 27, the jv traveled top contest the Greensburg Pirates. They were defeated by a 12-9 Pirate scoring outing.

On Saturday, April 28, the JV traveled to Batesville to face the Bulldogs. There the Raiders captured the 4-0 win. Meanwhile the Raider JV hosted the Scottsburg Warriors for a twin bill. The Raiders claimed victories in both games, the first by a score of 8-6, and the second game 10-0.

The Raider track and field team traveled to Jennings County for an 8-team competition. Both the boys' and girls' teams finished with fourth place ribbons.

The Raider boys team claimed the torch capturing first place with a count of 86 points.
The individual outcome in the Ripley County jr-high track meet held at Batesville resulted as follows:

1st in the 800 M Run
The Raider boys relay teams claimed 1st place in all three races.

Girls
The Lady Raider tracksters claimed second place in the tournament.
