Funeral services held for former auditor

Virginia (Pat) Busching, 76, of Versailles, formerly of Milan, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.

Mrs. Busching was elected to the position of County Auditor where she served from 1986 to 1994. She served as First Deputy in the Ripley County Treasurer’s Office also. She was a 1948 graduate of Moores Hill High School and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Stumpkes Corner. She was a former member of the Milan Lions Club, the Moores Hill Chapter of the Eastern Star, and was past president of the Ripley County Republican Women’s Club. She worked as a bookkeeper for Milan Feed and Grain and for Krick Electric in Milan.

Born near Delaware on July 13, 1930, Mrs. Busching was the daughter of Arval (Pat) and Hazel Schornick Molen. She was married to Alvin Busching on August 15, 1953 and he survives. Other survivors include two sons, Tim Busching and wife Christie of Madison, and Mark Busching of Versailles, two grandsons, Michael Busching of Daytona Beach and Brian Busching of Bloomington, one brother Ronald Molen and wife Reatha of Clayton, a sister Ruth Ann Ruggles and husband, Ralph, of Milan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Phillip Molen.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Stumpkes Corner near Milan with Pastor Richard Mackey officiating. Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles.

Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Cliff Hill Cemetery, or the Heart Fund in care of the funeral home.
