Wanda English Burnett, Editor

David Columbus Nantz, 40, of Butlerville, was arrested last Wednesday, November 7 on charges of Child Molesting.

The arrest was made without a warrant due to ISP Investigator Jan Graves’ belief that the child would be put at further risk if the arrest was not made immediately.

The alleged crime was reported last Wednesday to the North Vernon School Corporation’s School Resource Officer. The officer in turn contacted the North Vernon Police Department and the Indiana Department of Child Services in Jennings County. They contacted the state police due to the crime being committed outside of North Vernon.

Nantz was charged with one count of Child Molesting, a Class B Felony. He was taken to the Jennings County Jail and held on a $7,550 cash bond.

The suspect, if found guilty, could face from six to 20 years in prison and receive a maximum fine of $10,000.

Investigating officers included: Detectives Jan Graves, Rick Roseberry and Jerry Gentry. They were assisted by officers from the North Vernon Police Department.
