Primary filing closes, candidates in place for May 6 election

The deadline for filing for a political office in Ripley County came to a close last Friday, February 22, at noon.

Those placing their names on the ballot for the May 6 Primary who will face challenges include:

• James (Jim) Morris, Republican, will be challenged by Lynnette M. Fledderman, on the Democratic ticket for the Superior Court Judge seat.

• Mary Ann McCoy has filed on the Republican ticket for Clerk, with David R. Forwalt putting his name on the Democratic ticket.

• For County Commissioner 2nd District, the Republican candidates are Mark E. Busching and Charles J. (Chuck) Folz. On the Democratic ticket is Michael W. Baker.

• For County Council at Large there are four Republican choices, Donald E. Dunbar, Frank W. Hillberg, William (Bill) Warren and Benjamin W. (Ben) Peetz. There are two choices on the Democratic ticket, E.G. Ammerman Jr. and William H. (Bill) Dramann.

• Three names will be on the ballot for County Commissioner 3rd District on the Republican ticket: John P. Little, Lawrence E. Nickell, and Gerald (Gary) Stutler.

• There are four choices on the Republican ticket for Holton Council Member, Angela (Angi) Farrell, Paul L. Hughes, Ryan Lauber, and Scott C. McNeelan.

• For the seat on the Osgood Town Council Member slot there are also four Republican choices: Ed Newman, Rodney D. Stepleton, Jeffrey J. Volz and Larry R. Winters.

• For the Milan School Board Town of Milan there are two candidates: Edward Ted Amberger and Krista R. Thompson.

• Two names are on the Milan School Board at Large ticket: Douglas S. Norman and David W. Voss.

Races that are unchallenged in the primary election are:

• Ginger J. Bradford, Republican, for Recorder.

• Earline Copeland, Republican, for Treasurer.

• Ron Buchanan, Republican, for Coroner.

• Carl H. Taul, Democrat, Circuit Court Judge.

• Krista L. Bartosz, Republican, for Town of Holton Clerk-Treasurer.

• Tamara L. Wilhoit, Republican, for Town of Osgood Clerk-Treasurer.

• William W. Roberts for JCD School Board - Town of Osgood.

• Paul C. Hardy for JCD School Board at Large.
