County offers first online auction

Auctioning off items the county no longer needs is not new. Having an on-line auction is a first for Ripley County, according to Technology Director Kelly Vollet. The auction will begin Monday, April 14 and will consist of used office equipment and miscellaneous items from various county offices.

You can now sit in the comfort of your home and bid on these items. You can check out what is available at http://www.ripleycounty.com/auction or by calling 812-689-0025. Items can be viewed at the Ripley County Technology office at the annex building in Versailles by appointment.

Vollet noted that Becky Cairns, assistant for the department has created the site and been very involved in the new endeavor. “She’s done an excellent job,” she noted.

All items will be sold as is unless otherwise stated. Items must be picked up (no items will be shipped) and paid for with check or money order within one week of the closing date or the item will be put back on auction.

Taxpayers' money will be recycled when they pay for their items as the proceeds will go back into the county’s general fund, according to Vollet.
