The Milan Town Board met on April 14 with Doug Price, park board president, reporting that the park board had received a grant from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation for the Wineguard Building for $27,380. Tom Heidt Construction was the low bidder for the work needing to be done and was awarded the bid.

Also for the park, Price requested $3,500 from the Park Board’s Revenue Sharing fund be appropriated for dugouts and bases. This request was granted.

Town Manager John Ingram reported that three new water taps had been installed and ditching had taken place on Ellis Street. A water line was repaired at 931 N. Main Street. He noted that mowing would begin at the park the following week.

The Milan Beautification Committee has received a grant for $500 for pots. They should be in by the middle of May. The new welcome signs should be ready by June. The first sign will be placed on Highway 350 by the legion park. The park board will erect a similar type sign. In September, they will be applying for a grant for some new spring banners.

May 17 will be a general clean up day for the town. Heavy trash day will be May 24. The mess around the railroad tracks was discussed. Attorney Larry Eaton advised the correct way to proceed would be for the town board to write a letter to the railroad.

Marshal Gary Skaggs reported 76 minor consuming arrests, 51 calls for service and 66 reserve hours for the month of March.

The town is still looking into putting up a skateboard park at the Milan Town Park.

The next regular meeting of the Milan Town Board will be Monday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Milan Town Hall.
