Senior Raiders shine for 1-0 win

Gary Franklin, Sports Writer

South Ripley senior Kyle Patrick provided the necessary hit, a home run, to give all runs needed to win the game against the Madison Consolidated High School Cubs on Wednesday, April 23 in a game played at Forest G. Waters Field.
All the runs needed if the pitcher is, senior teammate BJ Sieverding, on that night that is. Sieverding went to work bringing strong pitching technique to minimize the Cub batters one by one.
Sieverding pitched the shut out win striking out 19 batters, which set a new South Ripley strike out record.
Word on the circuit is that Sieverding's last strike out pitch thrown was still at the 88 M.P.H. mark.
BJ would be first to remind you that it is a team sport and requires someone making a lot of right calls for the pitch to be thrown and strategic resolve to make it work. This is one game and the season requires many wins to be considered to be a success.
However, wins of this magnitude one can usually only dream of. Nice job BJ, Kyle & Raiders!

Senior teammate, Kyle Patrick, provided the run needed for the win with a homer over the newly erected fence at Forest G. Waters Field on the South Ripley High School Campus.
