Theresa Jane Adams
Theresa Jane Adams, 71, of Osgood passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near Versailles on July 15, 1937 the daughter of Charles and Theresa Beach Kemker. She was married to Herschel Adams on August 14, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Adams of Concord, North Carolina and Alan Adams of Miami, Florida; one daughter Phyllis Holman of Seymour; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bine Kemker and Lloyd "Butch" Kemker both of Osgood; three sisters, Cody Holt of Versailles, Norma Suttman of Oldenburg, and Pat Morris of Moores Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lee, and her sisters Doris Smith and Daisy Linzy.
Mrs. Adams was a 1956 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a former resident of Greenwood and was a homemaker. Her and her husband attended the Dabney Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 23 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial was in the Dabney Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.

Aloysius "Al" Meyer
Aloysius "Al" Meyer, 85, of Sunman, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2008. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman with Rosary at 3:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Nicholas School, to any area life squad or given for masses. Cook Funeral Home in Sunman is in charge of arrangements.

Vivien Carter
Vivien Carter, 68, of New Point, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at New Point Christian Church with funeral services following. Burial will be in the Milford Cemetery in Milford. Mary Huntington
Mary Huntington, 87, of Dearborn, Michigan, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2008 in Michigan. She was born on June 18, 1921 in Indianapolis, the daughter of George and Estella (Wren-nick) Stewart. She married Laurence E. Huntington on May 24, 1942 and he survives.
Other survivors include sons: David Huntington, Laurence Jr. (Peggy) Huntington, and Donald Huntington; grandsons: Robert and William Huntington; and great grandsons: Aaron and Alex Huntington.
Mrs. Huntington was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and an ardent worker of United Methodist Women’s Organization.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, at 11 a.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill with Rev. Damon Soper officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Noel O. Ertel
Noel O. Ertel, 93, of Metamora, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2008. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 at the funeral home with burial in the St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. Doug Edward Kohlmeier
Doug Edward Kohlmeier, 54, of Moore, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008 in South Carolina. He was born on August 8, 1954 in Milan, the son of Thomas W. and Phyllis (Weeks) Kohlmeier. He married Stacy Garrett of South Carolina and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons: Jason Kohlmeier of Florida, Kurt Kohlmeier and James Kohlmeier, both of Milan; two stepsons: Brian Authement and Cory Authement, both of South Carolina; mother, Phyllis of Milan; brother: Tom Kohlmeier of Noblesville; three grandchildren: Abby, Jackie and Jada Kohlmeier; nephew: Bryan Kohlmeier and niece: Nicole Kohlmeier.
Mr. Kohlmeier was a 1972 graduate of Milan High School and a member of the Milan United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 3 at Milan United Methodist Church with Pastor Stormey-Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial was in the Craven Cemetery in Milan. Joyce Wanette Davidson
Joyce Wanette Davidson, age 75, of Milan, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born June 19, 1933 in Canalou, MO, the daughter of Aubrey Davidson and Edith Hinchey Davidson.
Surviving are five sons: Eugene Ledbetter, of Dillsboro, Dwayne Bruce, of Trenton, OH, James Bruce, of Dillsboro, Steven Bruce, of Hamilton, OH, and Michael Evans, of Frankfort, KY; two daughters, Sandra Duckett, of Granite City, IL, and Denese Anderson, of Milan; six brothers; Charles Davidson, of Glen Carbon, IL, Jerry Davidson, of Edwardsville, IL, Morris and Carrell Davidson, of Springfield, MO, and Randy and David Davidson, of Tulsa, OK; four sisters, Paula and Linda Davidson, of Charleston, WV, Lisa Kirksy, of Dover, TN, and Rita Pauluhn of Florissant, MO; 18 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leon and Wayne Davidson and one grandson.
Miss Davidson was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept 3, at Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro, with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial was at Craven Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Denise Ella Gunter
Denise Ella Gunter, age 44 of Osgood, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at her home. She was born on December 31, 1963, the daughter of Herman and JoAnn (Ross) Douglas in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Daniel Gunter on July 31, 1993 in Batesville and he survives.
Other survivors include daughters Danielle Konradi, Deanna Gunter and Nicole Gunter (who all reside at home); stepdaughter Kelley Bedel of Batesville; stepson Brian Gunter of Milan; her parents; brother, Michael Douglas of Batesville; and two grandchildren Tyler & Alexa Bedel.
Mrs. Gunter was a 1984 graduate of Milan High School. She also was an avid golfer, a Jeff Gordon fan, loved the outdoors, camping and working with her husband in the excavating business.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Adams Lutheran Church with Pastor William Powlen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to Adams Lutheran Church, Cancer Research or The Hanson Center. Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville was in charge of arrangements.

Cecil H. Myers
Cecil H. Myers, 87, of Napoleon, passed away on August 30, 2008 at Heritage House of Greensburg. He was born on April 8, 1921, in Napoleon, the son of Charles Ted and Ada Newman Myers. He married LaVerne Schlensker on September 14, 1945 and she preceded him in death on December 7, 1989.
Survivors include son, Kenneth E. Myers of Napoleon; daughter, Luann and husband Michael Prentice of Napoleon; five grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Foster, Evelyn Weber and Edith Walke all of Greensburg.
Mr. Myers was a WWII Army Veteran, and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Napoleon. He worked for himself driving a truck for many years and owned and operated "Cars & Campers" of Napoleon. He also worked for Walstons Motors of Greensburg and Versailles. He was a member of the United Midget Racing Association. He had owned several cars and had also had been a race car driver.
Private services are being held for the family. Memorials may be given to Decatur County Hospice, St. John’s Lutheran Church or Napoleon Fire Department in care of the funeral home. Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Brandes
Norma Brandes, 86, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Hospice of Cincinnati at Blue Ash, Ohio. She was born near Benham on October 15, 1921, the daughter of George and Florence Westrick Vanosdol. She was married to Ralph Brandes and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2000.
Survivors include one son Darrell Scott of Versailles; one daughter Diane (Roy) Carter of Alma, Georgia; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren; four stepsons, Linden Brandes of Brookville, Ralph Brandes III and Gregory Brandes both of Milan, and Gary Brandes of Batesville and her sister-in-law Virginia Vanosdol of Rushville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roscoe Vanosdol, and her daughter-in-law Janet Scott.
Mrs. Brandes was a 1940 graduate of Cross Plains High School. She was a former employee of the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles, US Shoe at Osgood, Reliance Electric, and retired as a cook at South Ripley High School. She was a 51-year member of the Versailles Baptist Church where she participated and volunteered on many levels. She was also a member of the Versailles Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Do-A-Lot Home Economics Club, and the Ripley County Red Hatters. Mrs. Brandes enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and was an avid card player.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 1 at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Don Humphrey officiating. Burial was in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church building fund in care of Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Leo Edward Ostholthoff
Leo Edward Ostholthoff, age 77 of Versailles, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 3, at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Memorials may be given to the family.

Florence R. Cardinal
Florence R. Cardinal, 91, of Versailles, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at her home. She was born near Benham on October 6, 1916 the daughter of Charles and Julia Mathews Meisberger. She married Dale Cardinal on February 18, 1938 and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, James (Aileen) Cardinal of Versailles and Ronald (Brenda) Cardinal of Deputy; three daughters, Wanda (Ben) Adams of Indianapolis, Leslie Elaine Rouquet of Versailles, and Janet (Dennis) Richardson of Pierceville; 18 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Day of Versailles and Millie (Damon) Webster of Cross Plains; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Meisberger of New Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Harold Keith Cardinal; son-in-law, Denny Rouquet; and her brothers, Rom, Charles and Howard Meisberger.
Mrs. Cardinal was a cook at Lake Dilldear and had also managed Tom’s 50-50 Grill at the Wye in Versailles. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Versailles and enjoyed fishing, quilting and crocheting.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Phyllis Joan Blackwell
Phyllis Joan Blackwell, 84, of Milan, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Ripley Crossing, Milan.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 6 from 1-2 p.m. with funeral services to begin at 2 p.m. at the Adams Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Gary S. Champe
Gary S. Champe, 59, of Dillsboro passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the University Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born at Knoxville, Tennessee on March 12, 1949, the son of Allen and Doris Case Champe. He was married to Beverly Chipman on May 17, 2003 and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother Doris Champe of Dillsboro.
Mr. Champe was a US Army veteran retired having served 25 years in the military. He was a former POW and had served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He received three Commendation Medals, two Achievement Medals, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a five-time world champion skeet shooter. He was a gold medallist in 1992 in the United Kingdom Open and also in the 1993 Euro Cup. He was also a four time gold medallist in the 1994 world championship and was a member of the Skeet Hall of Fame.
He was a member of the Tyson United Methodist Church at Versailles and the Versailles American Legion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, at 3 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. James Byerly of the Tyson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery at Madison with full military honors.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
