The South Ripley HS Lady Raider volleyball teams traveled
to Milan High School on Monday night, September 29, for
competition against the Lady Indians.
Back to back JV Lady Indian game wins earned them a match
victory in the opening session. The game scores were Milan
25-23 SR and Milan 25-22 SR.
In varsity action, South Ripley hit the floor running
in high gear with a win in game one by the score of SR
25-13 Milan.
Game two found Lady Indian Coach Terry Wullenweber inserting
mostly underclassmen along with senior Darcy Robinson,
to try to muster a different look for his team.
The move seemed to work as the motivated group played
strong, but again fell to defeat to the Lady Raiders by
game's end at SR 25-18 Milan.
The Lady Indian's motivation carried on to game three,
as Coach Wullenweber reinserted his regular starting lineup
on the floor. They claimed victory of game three and game
four forcing a fifth game to fifteen to determine the
winner of the match.
The scores of games three and four were Milan 25-21 SR
and Milan 25-15 SR.
With both teams pumped and ready to battle in the rubber
game for the match, play resumed.
Game five proved to be a challenge for both teams, as
neck and neck the teams battled to the finish where the
Lady Raiders eventually claimed match victory, 15-13.
