Gary Franklin, Sports Writer

The 2008 IHSAA Boys Soccer Sectional #55 was held at Jac-Cen-Del High School. Competing in the first night of action, Thursday, October 9, were the Milan Indians and the Jennings County Panthers. JC scored a goal in each half of a well contested match by the tribe to win 2-0.
The second match featured the South Ripley Raiders and the hosting Jac-Cen-Del Eagles.
With match action no less than expected, teams battled to an end of regulation time tie with no score for either. Outstanding defense by goal keepers Kile Huss of SR and Shane Adams of JCD, along with strong defensive assistance from their teammates, kept hopes alive and fans on edge throughout the contest.
Requiring overtime to determine who would advance to the championship round against JCHS, two seven minute sessions were played. South Ripley's Derrick Wade scored in the first period off the assist by Chase Grider. JCD could not answer, nor could SR add for a knockout punch. SR won the game 1-0.
In the Saturday, October 11 championship match, the Jennings County Panthers and the South Ripley Raiders played to a first half tie of 0-0.
However, in the first minute of the second half, JCHS scored. The Raiders despite try after try could not tie the game.
In the final minute of regulation play the Panthers again scored to earn the championship title of sectional #55 by a score of 2-0.
All four teams gave solid performances while representing their schools in the competition.
