police granted software upgrade

The need for an upgrade to the software used by the police department
was discussed at the Milan Town Board meeting held on Monday,
October 13. According to board member Matt Huffman, the software
used by the police department is obsolete, with no upgrade available.
Included in the upgrade are a server and software as well as increased
storage which will be used by the clerks office and the
town utilities. The board unanimously approved the purchase for
$4,746.00.
Town Manager John Ingram reported that repairs to the Preble Street
bridge are complete, as well as the demolition of the old town
hall. Ingram reminded the board that leaf pick up will begin on
Monday, October 20.
Ingram reported a turnout of approximately 300 people to the tractor
show that was held on Saturday, October 11. He said there were
26 tractors, three hit and miss engines, and a demonstration of
wood shingle cutting.
In a letter from Sally McKittrick, the town employees were commended
for their hard work cleaning up after the windstorm in September.
The town manager reminded those attending that only limbs blown
down by wind will be picked up by the town. Any debris left from
a tree removal service will not be picked up.
Angela Beck, manager of the Daren Baker Memorial Park, informed
the board of the dedication of the Barlow building on Sunday,
October 26. Permission was granted to purchase material for a
walkway at the Barlow building. The board unanimously approved
a match grant of $1500 towards the purchase of bleachers for the
park.
In other business:
Trick or Treat night will be held on Friday, October 31
from 5-7 p.m.
Heavy trash pick up will be on Saturday, October 25. Residents
are reminded to place trash out the night before.
The request to have the town level out a buildup of rock
in the creek was approved.
A ten-day extension on the sewer project on Ellsworth was
granted. The delay is due to a water main leak.
The paving bid for the Catharine and Ellsworth Street project
was awarded to Rohe Company for $125,229.36.
Town Marshal Gary Skaggs report for the month of
September included four reports of theft, one possession of marijuana,
eight traffic arrests, and the reserve officer hours were 130.
All board members were in attendance, along with Town Manager
John Ingram and Clerk-Treasurer Gladys Moody. The next meeting
will be held on Monday, November 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in
the town hall.
