Pictured from left are: Jordan Howington,
11, a fifth grader at South Ripley Elementary, his grandmother,
Linda Alsip, Versailles, and Zane Stewart, 5, pictured
with his mother, Amy Stewart of Osgood. Jordan and Zane
were winners in Ripley Publishing Co.'s annual Mother's
Day contest. They each received $15 and a dozen roses
to present to their mothers. Jordan wrote: "My mom
is special because she is not my mom. She is my Mamaw.
She got me when I was a brand new baby 11 years ago. She
takes good care of me. She helps me do my homework and
watches me play baseball. She cooks good too. She don't
play Wii so good but she plays gin rummy really good.
When I was little I asked her if I came from her tummy.
She said no I came from her heart. I think that might
be better. I love her and she loves me. Zane wrote: "She
loves me. She rites me notes in my snack box. She reads
books to me. I love my mom." He is a kindergartner
at JCD and the son of Amy and Bill Stewart of Osgood.
