The South Ripley Lady Raider high school volleyball teams victoriously opened their 2009 season on the road Tuesday evening, August 18, against the Austin Lady Jets.
The Lady Raider JV opened their new season action with back to back wins of 25-20 and 25-24 over the Lady Jets.

The South Ripley Lady Raider high school volleyball teams followed their on the road season opening win over the Lady Eagles of Austin High School with a first match victory, held at home in their new gym, over another Lady Eagle squad, conference rival Jac-Cen-Del. The match played on Friday evening, August 21, found the Lady Raider JV losing game one to J-C-D. It looked dim early in game two for the Lady Raiders, as they trailed 8-4.
However, following a positive comeback, they managed to tie and later take the lead for the win to even match play at a game a piece, forcing a third to determine the match winner.
The Lady Raiders held firm to win the best of three match two games to one.
In varsity action, again the Lady Raiders downed the Lady Eagles. Wins over Jac-Cen-Del were recorded in three consecutive games of the best of five set by the match by scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-13.
