Belinda "Wendy" Roy
Belinda"Wendy" Roy, 52, of Guilford, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Margaret Hale and the former wife of Brent Roy.
Survivors include children: Jeremy and Niki Roy; grandchildren: Halie, Brooklyne, Alisa and Isabella; brothers: Johnny and Tommy Hale; and sister, Judy Smith.
Mrs. Roy was employed by Lawrenceburg Chevrolet and a former employee of the Dearborn Register.

David A. Bratten, 92, passed away April 7, 2009. He was married to the former Vivian Adams Bratten, 98, who passed away July 24, 2009. They lived in St. Petersburg, Florida and were formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio. Letha Ann Collins
Letha Ann Collins, 78, of Osgood, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born May 1, 1931, in Jenkins, Kentucky, the daughter of Dave and Cora Lee (Freeman) Jarrett. She married Clayton Collins on February 7, 1949, and he survives.
Other survivors include sons: Samuel (Linda) Collins of Bright, Fred (Brooke) Collins of Sunman, Billy Paul (Kim) Collins of Hamburg; daughters: Joan Collins of Bradenton, FL, Tammy (Carl) Walters of Osgood, Melinda Lee (Mark) Wolber of Brookville; brothers: David, Tom Raymond, and Bill Jarrett; sisters: Nina Craft, Wilma Bennett and Linda Jarrett; 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Wolter, two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Collins was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Osgood and a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Pastor Mike Cammack officiating. Alice Marie McEvoy
Alice Marie McEvoy, 74, of Holton passed away Monday, August 3, 2009 at her home. She was born in Shelby Township near New Marion on August 15, 1934 the daughter of Ed and Hattie Robertson Kennens.
Survivors include one daughter Sandy (Jim) Castner of Holton; three sons, Donald (Marilee) McEvoy, Stephen McEvoy, and David (Phyllis) McEvoy all of Holton; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Bobby and her daughter Cindy, her parents, her daughter-in-law Connie McEvoy, her brothers Ray Kennens and Lester (Tiny) Kennens, and her sisters Betty Morgan and Mary Estell.
Mrs. McEvoy was a member of the Holton Christian Church and the Holton Hometowners. She had served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in Otter Creek Township and had worked for several years on the election board. She was a 35 year employee of US Shoe in Osgood and had been employed with the Holton Food Mart. She had also served on the board for the Holton Jamboree.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Karen Reynolds of the New Marion Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.

Harry L. Dobson
Harry L. Dobson, 78, of Sunman, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born November 27, 1930 in Ripley County, the son of Albert Joseph and Pearl (Longfellow) Dobson. He married Bernetta Ruth (Lauber) Dobson on April 1, 1954 and she survives.
Other survivors include: sons, David (Joyce) Dobson, Jerry (Oneda) Dobson, and Harvey (Nancy) Dobson, all of Sunman; daughters, Ruth (Doug) Collins of Sunman, Dana (Ed) Davidson of Milan, Betty (Kevin) Collins of Floyds Knobs; sisters, Evelyn Foster of Muncie, Mary Ann Huff of Shreveport, LA, Martha Underwood of North Manchester; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Jessee.
Mr. Dobson was a 1949 graduate of Milan High School, served in the US Navy, and was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God. He owned and operated Dobson Home Repairs for many years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with the Rev. Duane Loos officiating. Burial will be at a later time at the St. Paul Methodist Cemetery, south of Sunman. Military rites will be performed by Milan Legion Post #235. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 7, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth Hey
Ruth Hey, 85, of Titusville, Florida passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at her home. She was born near Rexville on June 8, 1924 the daughter of Verne and Odetta Kirk Suter. She was married to Wayne Hey on March 4, 1951 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2009.
Survivors include one daughter Myra (Ron) Wamsley of Greenfield; three sons Verne Giltner of Indianapolis, Jerry Hey of Titusville, and Brian (Rachel) Hey of Carriere, Mississippi; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother Bernard (Martha) Suter of Indianapolis; two sisters Dalene Vestal of Greenfield and Clarice Mason of Melbourne, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Shane Howard.
Mrs. Hey was a 1942 graduate of New Marion High School. She was a 25 year employee of Western Electric in Indianapolis and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Titusville. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, at 12 p.m. at the Shelby Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Gideons in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Helen Frances Mason
Helen Frances Mason, 66, of Dillsboro, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at The Waters of Dillsboro-Ross Manor. She was born May 19, 1943 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Ralph Mason and Helen Masterson Mason.
Survivors include two nephews and six nieces, along with aunts and uncles and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Virginia, Ona, and Rachael.
Ms. Mason received her Masters Degree and worked as a librarian for several years at the Rising Sun City Library. She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship, with a luncheon following. Memorials may be given to her church. Arrangements are being handled by Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Melinda Gayle "Mindy" McIntosh
Melinda Gayle "Mindy" McIntosh, 26, of Moores Hill, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, at University Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born March 8, 1983 in Batesville, the daughter of Mark and Katrina McIntosh.
Survivors include parents, Mark and Katrina Marquardt McIntosh, of Moores Hill; one brother, Christopher of Shelbyville; maternal grandfather, Roger (Rita) Marquardt of Napoleon; paternal grandmother Ruby June McIntosh of Dillsboro; several uncles, aunts, cousins, and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by paternal grandfather- Alvin McIntosh, two uncles, and brother- Matt McIntosh.
Ms. McIntosh graduated from South Dearborn High School in 2001. She was working part time this summer at Dillsboro IGA, and was planning on going to Ivy Tech College to study accounting. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Greendale.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Greendale. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the church with a time for remembrances by her friends at 8 p.m. There will also be a visitation at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorials may be given to the family or to Emanuel Lutheran Church Youth Group. Ralph F. Smith
Ralph F. Smith, 67, of Ingalls, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at St. John’s Medical Center in Anderson. He was born near Dillsboro on October 31, 1941 the son of Ralph A. and Cozzie Baker Smith. He was married to Martha J. Lovins on March 16, 1960 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert (Tina) Smith of London, Ohio and Rick (Margaret) Smith of Ingalls; son-in-law Randy Buhrmester of Needham; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Snelling of Pendleton and Martha Clark of Dillsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter- Michelle Buhrmester, grandson- Richard Johns, and sister- Thelma Dresselhaus.
Mr. Smith was a 10-year veteran of the United States Marines. He served two tours and five campaigns of duty in Vietnam. He was a self-employed truck driver for 33 years acting as owner and operator. He was a life member of the Pendleton Amvets, a life member of the Marysville, Ohio VFW, a member of the Noblesville American Legion, the Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge in Richwood, Ohio, and the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Visitation will also be Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery with full military honors.

Ruth Ellen Walker Noell
Ruth Ellen Walker Noell, 84, a former Milan resident, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 in Ft. Pierce, FL. She was born September 27, 1924 in Milan, the daughter of Orvil and Henrietta (Kuntz) Walker. She married Lane Noell Jr. on February 15, 1947 and he survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Katherine Jordon; son, Jesse Noell; grandsons, Tye and Richard Jordon; brothers, Henry Walker of Milan and Orvil "Bob" Walker of Sunman. She was preceded in death by sister, Esther Negangard and brother, Norman Leslie Walker.

Wayne W. Peterson
Wayne W. Peterson, 66, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his home. He was born January 12, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of William Peterson and Helen Harris Peterson. He married Betty Cutter on January 25, 1982, and she survives.
Other survivors included one son, Kurt Peterson of Lawrenceburg; a step-son, Clark Kuhling with the US Army, stationed in Germany; brother, Alan Peterson of Clarkston, MT; and sister, Lynn (Kim) Schneider of White Salmon, WA.
Mr. Peterson was employed for 30 years at AT&T as a Technical Electrician, working out of Solon, Ohio.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Visitation with the family will be from 10 until time of services on Thursday. Wayneoka Louise Worley, 75, of Dillsboro, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009, at Dearborn County Hospital. She was born March 6, 1934 in Martin, KY, the daughter of Wayne Hagans and Mae Allen Hagans.
Survivors include two sons: James (Patty) Worley, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, and Mike (Sandy) Worley of Aurora; one brother, Paul Hagans, of Langley, KY; three sisters, Pat McCarty of Aurora and Barbara Sue Kelley and Linda Thacker, both of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren: Michael, James, Dusti and Amber; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Kay Bowen, and one brother, Jack Hagans.
Mrs. Worley worked at Schneley Distillery and at New Horizons in Batesville. She was a member of the Allen First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Martin, KY. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Brice Gabbard
Brice Gabbard, 66, of Sunman, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009. He was born June 17, 1943 in Dearborn County, the son of Millard and Loretta (Combs) Gabbard. He married Linda (Brindley) Gabbard on June 30, 1987 in Newport, Ky., and she survives.
Other survivors include children: Lula Gabbard, Kris (Emily) Kilby, Sammy Gabbard, Lori Gabbard, Brice (Duwana) Gabbard, Calvin (Jennine) Gabbard and Harley Gabbard; brothers and sisters: Harry (Darlene) Gabbard, Ida (Cliff) Norris and Perry (Carolyn) Gabbard; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tony Gabbard.
Mr. Gabbard was a heavy equipment operator for Mike Seevers. He was a member of Amvets Post 13 & Milan American Legion.
Visitation and funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 12 p.m. at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio with Rev. Tom Holt officiating. Gray Miller
Gray "Bub" Miller, 73 of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at his residence. He was born December 16, 1935 at Dale, Kentucky. He married Mary Alice Moore on March 8, 1960 in Middletown, Ohio and she survives.
Other survivors include: daughters: Mary Helen (Larry) Eckstein and Ruth Ann Miller, all of Osgood; five brothers: Dean (Evelyn) Miller, Chavis (Bonnie) Miller, Johnie (Donna) Miller, Grover (Kathy) Miller and Charles (Ann) Miller, all of Osgood; four sisters: Opal Smith of Madison, Helen (Gene) Bauman of Osgood, Janet (Ralph) Thompson of North Vernon, Susan (Joseph) Owens of Osgood and Reva Mullins of Osgood.
Mr. Miller was a poultry farmer in the Osgood area for Thayer Farms for approximately 20 years. He was employed with the Ripley County Highway Garage for approximately 15 years. He was an army veteran.

Harold Louis Gunter
Harold Louis Gunter, 84, Batesville, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009 at his home. He was born on October 29, 1924 in Batesville, the son of Vernon and Edna (Richter) Gunter. He married Violet Hornberger on June 2, 1951 at St. Jacob Church in Blue Creek and she survives.
Other survivors include sons Daniel (the late Denise) Gunter of Osgood and Eugene "Goose" (Elene) of Batesville and daughter, Bev (Dean) Whitaker of Batesville; brother Kendall Gunter of Batesville and sister Lavonne Huber of Sunman; along with 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Estal, Dale, Allen, Mervin and Bobby Gene Gunter and one sister: Velma Belter.
Mr. Gunter was a life long farmer and member of Adams Lutheran Church. Hunting and trapping were two of his favorite activities and his gun was often with him.

Cordis Franklin
Cordis Franklin, 81, of Milan, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009 at Dearborn County Hospital. He was born on June 18, 1928 in Amburgey, Ky., the son of Lawrence and Nora (Mullins) Franklin. He married Grace (Terry) Franklin on December 22, 1949 and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Michael (Linda) Franklin of Dillsboro and Gary (Debra) Franklin of Aurora; brother, Dexter Franklin of Fairmount; sister, Marie Fields of London, Ky.; five grandchildren: Emily, Cory, Michelle and Christopher Franklin and Danielle Sayler.
Mr. Franklin was employed with Seagrams for about 37 years. He attended Milan Wesleyan Church.

Kellie Sutton Turnbow
Kellie Sutton Turnbow, 45, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, formerly of Osgood, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at her home. She was born October 2, 1962 the daughter of Priscilla Ann Sutton of Osgood and George W. Sutton of Hamilton, Ohio and they survive.
Other survivors include her husband, Roger Turnbow of Old Hickory; three sons, Devon Anderson, Robert and Cassidy Ott all of Nashville, Tennessee; one daughter, Kaycee and husband David Bales of Independence, Kentucky; brother, Timothy and wife Chris Sutton of Osgood; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth "Betty" McGlone of Osgood and two grandchildren, Katylyn and Javer Bales.
Mrs. Turnbow was a logistics analyst at Louisiana Pacific in Nashville, TN.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, July 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.

James Irvin Ritchie

James Irvin "Jim" Ritchie, 72, of Madison, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Waters of Clifty Falls, Madison. He was born April 1, 1937 in Vevay the son of Edgar and Marguerite Fredenburgh Ritchie, who precede him in death.
He married Betty Lou Mathews on January 25 1958 in Brooklyn, New York and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Dena Potochny and husband Mark of Madison; two sons, James Ritchie and wife Nancy of Ft. Wayne and Mike Ritchie and wife Diane of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Ritchie was of the Baptist faith. He was inducted into the United States Navy on October 16, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky rising to the rank of seaman during the Vietnam War. He has served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He worked at the Old Ice House at Pearl Packing Company and as a purchaser at the JayC Food Store and for Barber Grocery Company. He also worked for the Indiana Kentucky Electric Corp and retired after 20 years of service.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison with Brother Doug Lee officiating. Burial will be at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
