JCDHS homecoming is held

Under the 2009-2010
theme of "Hollywood, a night of glitz and glamour, the
Jac-Cen-Del student body and guests enjoyed the annual festive
homecoming ceremony held on Friday, December 5, at JCDHS center
court.
Homecoming ceremony
The event included senior class king candidates: Ryan Schuler,
son of Bill and Terri Schuler, Daniel Harlemert, son of Ron
and Donna Harlemert and Brandon Wilhoit, son of Cindy Starkey
and Rick & Debby Wilhoit along with named homecoming King
Spencer Purdy, son of Michael and Jennifer Purdy.
Queen candidates included: Alissa Stolze, daughter of Loren
and Terri Stolze, Kristin Konradi, daughter of Vernon and
Jill Konradi, Sarah Wenning, daughter of Paul and Sandy Wenning
and named homecoming Queen Victoria Flaspohler, daughter of
Robert Flaspohler and Tammy Sizemore.
The accompanying court representing the freshman class included
Taylor Trent and Nichole Brown, sophomores Jayson Purdy and
Alanie Hooton joined by juniors Trevor Arnett and Brittany
McConnell.

Ripley County
Freshman Basketball Tournament is slated for action on Saturday,
December 12, at South Ripley HS

A meeting for the draw for placement in the 2010 edition of
the Ripley County basketball tournament was held at the Cricket
Ridge Golf Course Restaurant in Batesville on Wednesday, December
2.
Representatives from Jac-Cen-Del HS, Milan HS, South Ripley
HS and Batesville HS were joined by Ripley County Hall of
Fame representation and sports media persons.
Batesville HS AD Mark Ferguson opened the meeting with a welcome
and asked that all introduce themselves as new faces were
among the crowd attending. That being completed, Batesville
Principal Presley offered a blessing for the meeting and a
buffet meal that followed.
Results of the draw placed Batesville HS as game one slot
teams as the visitors. Slot two filling found the South Ripley
Raiders as the home team for game one action.
Game two contenders as the visitors for the game were the
Jac-Cen-Del Eagles with the Milan Indian teams seated as the
home team.
Freshman Boys Tourney
The freshman boys tournament is first on the agenda for tournament
action, slated for play on Saturday, December 12, at the South
Ripley HS facility.
The plan of action finds the Batesville Bulldogs in competition
against the hosting South Ripley Raiders at 10 a.m. on the
new SRHS gymnasium floor.
Simultaneously at 10 a.m., on the former SRHS gym (now the
Jr. High gym) action will find the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles vs the
Milan Indians.
Approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game 1 and
game 2 competition, the freshman championship game will be
played in the new SRHS gym. (No consolation game for freshman
tourney).
Doors for the freshman boys tournament will open at 9:15 a.m.
Admission at the door is $5 which entitles admittance to all
scheduled freshman tourney matches. *No season passes are
valid for tournamet games.
Following the conclusion of the championship game a trophy
will be awarded to the winning team.
The 86th Annual Ripley County Varsity Tournament will follow
the same placement as the freshman, that being, Batesville
vs South Ripley in game one action, followed by game two featuring
the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles vs Milan Indians contest.
Dates and location of the girls varsity tournament are: Tuesday,
January 5 and Friday, January 5. The boys dates are Wednesday,
January 6 and Saturday, January 9.
Doors for tournament competition will open at 5 p.m. with
first game action beginning at 6 p.m.
First round dates and location of the girls and boys Jr varsity
tournament are: Thursday, January 7,with the boys tournament
held at Batesville HS and the girls tournament held at Milan
HS.
The second round (Jr High championship games played at Batesville
HS) will be held on Saturday, January 9, with the girls game
tip off at 10 a.m. and the boys game following, beginning
at 11:30.
