The members of the Osgood Public Library board received a progress report on the construction of the new Milan branch at the meeting held December 15. According to project supervisor Gary Johnson, Bruns-Gutzwiller Construction has done “a really nice job.”

Johnson reported that the problems with the roof have been reconciled and that progress has been made on the roof. The masonry has been completed and drywall has been hung in the mechanical rooms.

The board was advised to consider an auxiliary heating source in case the geothermic system should break down. There will be an additional cost of installation to the project, according to Johnson, but the exact figure was not available at the time of the meeting.

The new building for the Milan branch is located on State Road 101 near the Milan VFW. Johnson expects completion of the project sometime in March.

Preliminary sketches of the dedication plaque were presented for the board’s review. Any changes in design and wording will be discussed at the next meeting.

In other business:

• The motion to approve a 1.5% raise for employees, with the exception of the director, was unanimously approved.

• The motion to accept the bid from Necessary Solutions for the phone system at the Milan branch was approved.

• The officers for 2010 are: President Gene Pitts; Vice-President Sheri Cunningham; Secretary Lynaea Hess; and Treasurer Richard Parks. Larry Eaton will continue to serve as counsel for the board.
All members were in attendance. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 26 at 7 p.m. at the Osgood Public Library.
