Leonard
John Miller
Leonard John Miller, age 95 of Sunman and formerly of Milan,
passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Margaret Mary Community
Hospital in Batesville. He was born January 20, 1915, the son
of Herman and Catherine (Pfeiffer) Miller in Bridgetown, Ohio.
On January 12, 1946 he married Marie C. Hackman in Cincinnati,
Ohio and she preceded him in death.
Surviving is his daughter, Marian (Dale) Koester of Sunman.
In addition to his wife, Marie, he was preceded in death by
his twin sister Helen Miller; sisters Marie Jansen and Anna
Gustovson; and brother, Joseph Miller.
The World War II Army veteran was raised in Mack, Ohio. He was
a truck driver for Gollers Express Hauling for Formica and a
part time farmer. He was a member of the former Odd Fellows
and the Cincinnati Retired Teamsters and a current member of
St. John United Church of Christ, and a former member at Pierceville
United Methodist Church.
Visitation is being held today, Tuesday February 23, from 4-8
p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services
will be held on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at St. John United Church
of Christ in Batesville with Rev. Dave Johnston officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Military
graveside rites will be held at the cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. John United Church of Christ,
Pierceville United Methodist Church or Sunman Rescue 20 in care
of the funeral home. Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville is in

Robert Huntington
Robert Huntington, 87, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, formerly from
Osgood, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010. Burial will
be in the Poplar Bluff Cemetery in Missouri.
Jeanette Dalene Vestal
Jeanette Dalene Vestal, 87, of Greenfield passed away Friday,
February 19,2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. She was born
at Rexville on June 29, 1922 the daughter of Verne and Odetta
Kirk Sutter. She was married to Floyd Vestal on May 23, 1942
and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2008.
Survivors include one daughter Myra (Ron) Wamsley of Greenfield;
granddaughter Debbie (Jason) Coombs of Kokomo; four great grandchildren;
one brother Bernard Sutter of Franklin; one sister Clarice Mason
of Melbourne, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her
parents and her sister Ruth Hey.
Mrs. Vestal was a member of the North Madison Christian Church.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10:30
a.m. at the Shelby Christian Church with Minister Randy Thieman
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation
will be from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions
may be given to the Shelby Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles.

James Wonning, 91, of Batesville, passed away February 17, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 20 at St. Paul
Lutheran Church with burial in the St. Paul Church Cemetery.

Luhrsen
Alberta Luhrsen, age 89, of Ripley Crossing in Milan, and formerly
of Aurora, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Dearborn
County Hospital. She was born December 22, 1920 in Valley View,
KY, the daughter of Charles Daugherty and Maude Perkins Daugherty.
In April of 1942 she was married to John Luhrsen, and he preceded
her in death in 1972.
Surviving are two sons, John (Anna) Luhrsen of Georgetown and
Roger Luhrsen of Aurora; one daughter, Phyllis (Robert) Johnson
of Florence, KY; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren;
two sisters, Barbara Jean Daugherty and Lucy Russell. She was
preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Vicki Luhrsen;
one granddaughter, Leslie; one brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Luhrsen was a former member of First Baptist Church in
Aurora, and a long time member of the Washington Twp. Homemakers
Club. She worked as a PTO Volunteer at her childrens schools
and in later years she worked part time at Teaney' s Grocery
Store in Aurora.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 17, at 1:30 p.m.
at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Burial will follow
in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be
Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may
be given to the Alzheimer's Assoc. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home

(Dottie) Sullender
Dorothea (Dottie) Sullender, 88, of Milan, passed away Saturday,
February 13, 2010 at the Methodist Hospice in Indianapolis.
She was born, May 23, 1921 in Franklin Township, the daughter
of Lester G. and Mabel (Dilla) Plump. She married Carl Sullender
on June 8, 1962 and she preceded her in death on February 27,
1982.
Survivors include: brother, Bobby (Jenine) Plump of Indianapolis;
two sisters, Virginia Schwing of Florida and Esther Heidorn
of Milan. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers,
Bill Plump and Lester Plump.
Mrs. Sullender was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Milan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 18, at 11 a.m.
at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milan with Pastor Ron Haseley
officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery
in Milan. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb.
17 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Memorials may be

T. (Bo) Daily
George T. (Bo) Daily, 79, of Versailles passed
away Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Andrews Health Campus
in Batesville. He was born at Highland Park, Illinois on August
8, 1930 the son of George D. M. and Helen Rudolph Daily. He
was married to Pat DeVore on March 16, 1952 at the Wirt Baptist
Church and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons George D. (Brenda) Daily of
Columbus, Ohio and Daniel (Nicole) Daily of Moores Hill; two
daughters Deborah (Steve) Haughee of Osceola and Gretchen (Jeff)
Fuller of Milan; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
two sisters Joan Geisler and Pat (Wayne) Ralston both of Versailles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Daily was a 1948 graduate of Central High School in Madison
and was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Olean.
He worked as an accountant from 1964 to 1992 for Ohio Valley
Paving in Carrollton, Kentucky.
The funeral service will be held on Wedneday, February 17 at
11 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Olean with Pastor
James Culver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the church
or the Parkinsons Disease Foundation in care of the funeral
home.

Frances Herd
Helen Frances Herd, 79, of New Pennington, passed
away Saturday, February 13, 2010. Visitation will be held Wednesday,
Feb. 17 from 4-7 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville with
funeral services on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. Burial will
be in the Rossburg Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the New
Point Christian Church. Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville is

Leon F. Vinup
Leon F. Vinup, 82, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, February
9, 2010 at The Waters of Batesville. He was born September 1,
1927 in Ohio County, the son of Meta (Nee: Kessler) and Alfred
Vinup. He married Charlotte "Shorty" Barclay on February
18, 1950 at Greensburg United Methodist Church and she survives.
Other survivors include: daughters, Carolyn Wanstrath of Batesville,
Vickie Baylor of Milan; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Lee.
Mr. Vinup was employed for 46 years in the plating department
at the Hill-Rom Company in Batesville before retiring. He was
a member of the Batesville Eagles Aerie #1130 and a former member
of the Batesville Rescue 10 and 50 year member of the Batesville
Fire Department. He was very active in the Eagles Club, serving
as treasurer for over 50 years.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 13 at Weigel Funeral
Home in Batesville with Rev. Jill Kepler-Cambell of St. Marks
Lutheran Church officiating. Burial followed in the St. Marks
Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Hansen Center
or the Batesville Fire Department. Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville
was in charge of arrangements.
Roena (Bobbie) Allen
Roena (Bobbie) Allen, 90, of Milan, passed away Thursday, February
11, 2010 at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home in Milan. She was born
January 18, 1920 in Mason, Kentucky, the daughter of William
and Deenie (Mason) Frederick. She married Edgar Harrison Allen
on November 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include son, Albert Harold (Donna) Allen of Milan;
Gerald Wayne (Patricia) Allen of Chillicothe, IL; daughters,
Dianna Mae (Michael) Beemer of Lebanon, OR, Sheila Louise (Eugene)
Ott of Rising Sun, Susann Lynn (Bruce) Beard of Milan, Kathy
Lee (Gregory) Ortlieb of Falmouth, KY, Joan Mathilda (Jeffrey)
Miles of Moores Hill, Dawn Michelle (Aaron) Kozlowski of Lawrenceburg;
two sisters, Una Jones of NM, Mary Rose Cordrey of NC; niece,
Janice Foozer of OH; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren
and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by
her husband, siblings: Alvina Lloyd of OH, Claude Frederick,
Edith Perkings, Rebecca Frederick, John Frederick, Agnes Day
and William Frederick, all of KY.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the Moores Hill Baptist Church, Moores
Hill Senior Center Building and the Red Hat Society.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 15 at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home in Milan with Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Burial
was in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, OH. Memorials

Virginia Vanosdol
Virginia Vanosdol, 91, of Benham passed away Thursday, February
11, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She
was born on Little Doe Run in Switzerland County on July 14,
1918 the daughter of Edward W. and Pearl Saylor Brooks. She
was married to Roscoe Vanosdol on January 14, 1938 and he preceded
her in death on December 23, 1986.
Survivors include two daughters Joyce Vanosdol of Indianapolis
and Janice Vanosdol of Rushville; three grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; one brother Jerry (Gleda) Brooks of Benham;
two sisters Christine Rainwater of Louisville and Leota Dickerson
of Leesburg, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, her son Clyde, great-grandson Tyler Massingale, sister-in-law
Norma Brandes, her brother Edward E. Brooks, and sister-in-law
Martha Brooks.
Mrs. Vanosdol was a 1937 graduate of Versailles High School.
She had been employed with Fergusons Store in Versailles and
also with the Bovard Funeral Home in Versailles. She was an
80-year member of the Benham United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 15 at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating. Burial
was in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Benham
Cemetery or the Fishes and Loaves food pantry in care of the
funeral home.

Sylvanus Palmer
Omer Sylvanus Palmer, 96, of Osgood passed away Saturday, February
6, 2010 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He
was born January 5, 1914 the son of Wm. and Anna Mae Gloyd Palmer.
He married Violet Lucille Talbott on June 28, 1935 and she preceded
him on death February 23, 1993. He then married Gladys Bertha
Webster Steele and she also preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter, Betty Joan Culp of Oregon City,
Oregon; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and eleven
great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three
brothers, Nelson, Robert and Claude Palmer and two sisters,
Gladys and Claudessa Palmer.
Mr. Palmer was a WWII navy veteran and a member of the Versailles
American Legion. He was a past member of the Keene Henneke VFW
of Napoleon, Osgood American Legion Post # 267. He was a past
employee of Jefferson County Proving Grounds, inspector for
the IN State Highway Department and was a past stone mason.
Omer belonged to the Versailles Christian Church and had attended
the Osgood First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 5-8 p.m. at
Neals Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will be
held Thursday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home
with burial in the Greendale Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials

Wayne Scott
Wayne Scott, 69, of Versailles passed away Friday, February
5, 2010 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison.
He was born at Madison on November 22, 1940 the son of John
R. and Irma Heiderman Scott. He was married to Roberta Yeary
on July 24, 1975 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Jerry Wayne Scott of Versailles;
two daughters Susan (Steve) Whitham of Madison and Sandra (Grant)
Brown of Cross Plains; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;
one sister Connie Gabbard of Cross Plains. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and his sons Kenneth and Randell.
Mr. Scott was a 1959 graduate of Cross Plains High School. He
was a former heavy equipment operator for Websters Construction
and had worked as a road grader for the Ripley County Highway
Department.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, February 9,
at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles
with Rev. Darrell Statler officiating. Burial will be in the
Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 p.m. until
time of services. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
Bert Britt
Bert Britt, 86, of Versailles passed away Thursday, February
4, 2010 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
He was born on August 27, 1923 at Ansted, West Virginia the
son of Preston and Beulah Hypes Britt. He was married to Pauline
Peebles on June 2, 1945 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Dan Britt of Hamilton, Ohio;
two daughters Linda (Mike) Alprin of Canton, Ohio and Carolyn
Sue (Marvin) McNew of Holton; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Quentin
and Edsil Britt, and his daughter-in-law Ruth Britt.
Mr. Britt was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served as a Captains
Write. He was a branch manager for Clark Equipment in Chicago
and was a former manager of the Ripley County Farm Bureaus
hardware store in Osgood. He also had farmed, worked as a carpenter,
and had with his wife owned and operated Olde Things Flea Market
in Versailles. Mr. Britt was a member of the Hopewell Baptist
Church and the Versailles American Legion.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 8 at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Shivers officiating.
Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials
may be given to Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.

Doris Lee Holt Konkle, 85, of Madison, passed away Friday, February
5, 2010. Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, Feb.
9, at 1 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with
burial will be in Hebron Cemetery near Madison. Visitation will
be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral

Sue C. Myers
Sue C. Myers, 67, of Milan, passed away Sunday, February 7,
2010 at her home. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August
20, 1942, the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth Begley Adkins.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne (Judy) Evans, David Myers
and companion Alice Jackson, and Jack Myers all of Milan; four
daughters, Tina McKeown, Tonya (Chris) Glacken, Mary Smith,
LaVonne (Jamie) Craft all of Milan; 22 grandchildren and two
great grandsons; five brothers, Houston Walker of Texas, John
Walker of Oklahoma, Frank and Chester Walker, both of Versailles
and Donald Bowman of Kentucky; and one sister, Elizabeth Alben
of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers,
Marion and Raymond Adkins, Tim Hageman, Roy Alben; and sisters,
Sylvia Asher and Elvira Kilgore.
Ms. Myers was a 34-year employee of Hill-Rom where she worked
as a cycle counter, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the
Milan American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Walter Begley officiating.
Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will
be held Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to St.
Judes in care of the funeral home.

D. Vanosdol
John D. Vanosdol, 61, of Versailles, passed away Friday, January
29, 2010 at King's Daughters Hospital, Madison. He was
born December 30, 1948 at Osgood, the son of Webb and Evelyn
Shaffer Vanosdol.
Survivors include son Danny (Amanda) Vanosdol of Versailles;
daughters Johna Wilson of Columbus, Jenny Vanosdol of Rushville
and Melinda Carroll of St. Paul; five grandchildren; brothers,
Webb Vanosdol of Bright and Mike Vanosdol of North Vernon. He
was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Vanosdol.
Mr. Vanosdol worked 26 years for the Ripley County Highway Garage
as a heavy equipment operator. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran
having received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Versailles
American Legion.
Cremation will take place with private family services. Arrangements

Leslie Carroll Hudson
Leslie Carroll Hudson, 68, of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday,
January 30, 2010 in Lawrenceburg. He was born August 25, 1941
in Warsaw, KY, the son of Howard Hudson and Bessie Kinman Hudson.
On De-cember 24, 1960 he married Arlene Sullivan, and she survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Chuck Keller, David Hudson,
and Melvin (Kimberly) Hudson all of Aurora, and Rory (Angie)
Hudson of Ver-sailles; two daughters, Patty Hudson of Milan,
and Kim (Bill) Vinup of Dillsboro; 18 grandchildren and many
great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Hudson. He was preceded
in death by his parents, and one brother, Raymond Hudson and
one sister, JoAnn Hudson.
Mr. Hudson was em-ployed at Alton Box Co. as a Press Operator
for several years. He worked as a coach and helper at the little
league field in Dillsboro. He loved to play his guitar, and
was a Big Brother for several years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 3, at 10:30
a.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship with Pastor
Sherman Hughes officiat-ing. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Visitation is be-ing held today, Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. at Filter-DeVries
Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Memorials may be given to the family
to help with medical expenses.
