Raymond Bernard Young
Raymond B. Young, age 82, of Osgood, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born September 23, 1929 in Osgood, to the parents of Clem Henry & Clara Mary Khorman Young. He married Helen Louise Hoover on April 28, 1949 and she preceded him in death on March 12, 1982.
Survivors include loving companion, Lillie Mae Johnson of Osgood and Lillie's children, Scott Johnson of Milan, and Jenna Ramirez of Hamburg; son, David E. (Rosalia) Young of Osgood; daughters, Karen (Eugene) Kunz of Osgood, Deborah Kay Dean of Osgood; brothers, Alfred Young of Osgood, Arthur Young of Greensburg; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, Lillie's seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Young Jr.
Mr. Young had worked at Hill-Rom for 37 years retiring in 1992. He also had been a farmer. He loved his family, dancing and also the outdoors.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at the St. Maurice Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery. Edna Mae Taylor
Edna Mae Taylor, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, with burial in the Adams Church Cemetery, Batesville. Memorials may be given to the family. Viola Ruth Smiley
Viola Ruth Smiley, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville. She was born at New Marion on September 8, 1931, the daughter of Charles and Creola Swinney Ketzendorf. She was married to Eldred Smiley on February 15, 1953 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Charles (Robin) Smiley of Avon and James (Sherri) Smiley of Indianapolis; three daughters, Janet Sue Smiley of Indianapolis, Mary Rose (Gary) Rushing of Mooresville, and Doris Kay (Tim) Ellington of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Bray and one niece, Creola Bray, both of Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Earnest Carl Ketzendorf.
Mrs. Smiley was a 1949 graduate of Versailles High School. She attended the New Marion Baptist Church and also the Souls Harbor Assembly of God at Plainfield. Viola was a homemaker and had worked at Gray’s Cafeteria in Mooresville.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Jones Family Mortuary at Mooresville. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with visitation from 12 p.m. until time of services. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery or the donor’s choice.

Barbara Marie Given
Barbara Marie Givan, 81, of Versailles, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility at Columbus, Indiana. She was born October 20, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence Christian and Mary Elizabeth (Blaurock) Fenker.
Barb graduated from Milan High School with the class of 1947 and then attended St. Mary of the Woods College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences. She married Philip L. Givan on October 18, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1987.
She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Osgood, and led a very active life having taught cake decorating classes at the Career Center. She also taught parenting classes and worked with the Foster Parents Program through the Welfare Department. Barb was a founding member of the Milan Community Park and loved cross stitching, ceramics, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Dr. Deborah Givan (Dr. Robert Alonso) of Zionsville, Janice (Jerry) Wilson and Theresa Parker both of Versailles, and Melanie (Willard) Bentley of Richmond, KY; sisters, Mary Turner of California, KY and Ruth Fenker of Batesville; grandchildren, Kyle and Jonathan Parker, Joshua and Joanna Wilson, Mary Kathryn and Annemarie Alonso, Aspen and Rachel Bentley; and great grandchildren, Natalie and Samantha Parker. Barb was preceded in death by children, Patricia Joyce and Michael Philip Givan, her parents, husband, and sister Eileen Reis.

William W. "Bill" Poling, 81, of Madison, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011. Dwayne D. McNeelan
Dwayne D. McNeelan, 65, of Holton passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his home. He was born at Batesville on June 7, 1946 the son of Martin and Laura Richardson McNeelan. He was married to Janie LaFollette on June 17, 1966 and she preceded him in death on April 11, 1997.
Survivors include one son, Scott (Misty) McNeelan of Holton; three daughters, Tammy Buell, Melissa Grigsby, and Melanie (Bill) Fields all of Holton; nine grandchildren; one sister, Alice (Ronald) Rayburn of Holton; two brothers, Martin (Beverly) McNeelan, Jr. of Whiteland and Jim (Carolyn) McNeelan of Holton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Derrick Buell.
Mr. McNeelan was a 1965 graduate of Holton High School and had attended the Holton United Methodist Church. He worked in production at Seagrams for 35 years retiring in 1998. Dwayne was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 14 the Holton United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery with military honors by the Versailles American Legion. Elizabeth M. "Liz" Grace
Elizabeth M. "Liz" Grace, 86, of Moores Hill, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at her home. She was born December 29, 1924, in Napoleon, the daughter of Reynold and Elizabeth (Westerman) Grossman. She married Ervin "Bud" Grace on November 4, 1944 and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1994.
Liz was a retired employee of 23 years from the Aurora Casket Company, was a member of the Milan Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #333.
Liz is survived by a sister, Mary Parsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home, Moores Hill, with Tom Reid officiating. Burial will follow in South Sparta Cemetery, south of Moores Hill. Visitation will also be Thursday, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Eastern Star Services will be held at 10:55 a.m.

Christopher "Chris" C. Lewis
Christopher "Chris" C. Lewis, 76, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, peacefully at his residence. Chris was born January 17, 1935 in Cinda (Letcher County), Kentucky, the son of Daniel Boone and Katy Katherine (Hall) Lewis. He married Anna Lorene (Lovitt) Lewis, and she survives.
Mr. Lewis was a self-employed roofer and painter. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Chris is survived by his wife, Lorene; children, Steve (Frances) Lewis of West Virginia, Polly (Joe) Brown of Chicago, Roseanna (Rick) Gilland of Osgood, Loretta (Vernon) Goodpaster of Indianapolis, Gary Lewis of Seymour, Jerry (Jamie) Lewis of Ohio, Nanny Liapis of Chicago; Sarah McVey of Corbin, KY, Christopher (Troyia) Lewis of Versailles; 30 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Chestine Galloway.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with burial in the New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Military rites were performed by Milan Legion Post #235. Joan K. Braley Morrison, 49, of Indianapolis, formerly of Hanover, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Joan Wettering
Joan Wettering, 76, of Milan, passed away Monday, September 5, 2011, at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born February 2, 1935 in Amarillo, TX, the daughter of Reginald and Effie Mae (Smallwood) Morgan.
Joan retired from Thatcher Glass Company in Lawrenceburg. She married Robert A. Wettering on June 16, 1978, and he survives. Joan enjoyed her grandchildren, fishing, watching hummingbirds and caring for her beloved dogs, Bozwell and Mitzi.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Wettering of Milan; son, Reggie (Charlene) Honaker of Patriot; daughters, Rosanna Perkins of California, Gwen Honaker of Lawrenceburg, Janice (Ron) Honaker Pruss of Milan, Nicole (Jeff) Dickman of Napoleon; brothers, Kelly Morgan of Princeton, TX, Frank Morgan of Plano, TX, Bernie Morgan of Midland, TX; sisters, Marilyn Floyd of Hazelhurst, GA, Cathy Powell of Amarillo, TX, Nancy Kaye Morgan of Amarillo, TX; fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, at 11 a.m. at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with Pastor Charlie Miller officiating. Harold K. Wells
Harold K. Wells, 87, of Guilford, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011. He was born Sunday, February 24, 1924, in Aurora, the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Jameson) Wells.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Dennis Wells and Terry Wells; daughter, Beverly King; brother, Paul Wells; two sisters, Juanita Holdcraft and Phyllis Morling; and granddaughter Ashlee King. He was preceded in death by his wife Violet; brother Donald; and sister Alma Jean.
Mr. Wells served his country in the US Navy. He retired from I&M after 18 1/2 years and prior to that he worked at Fernald for 16 years. He was a former member of the St. Paul Methodist Church in Sunman.
Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with funeral services being held on Friday, September 2, at 12 p.m., also at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Russell will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Cemetery, Sunman.
