Jesse L. Black Schamel
Jessie L. Black Schamel, 79, of North Vernon, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. She was born at Owenton, Kentucky on August 8, 1932, the daughter of Arthur and Susie Bradney Jackson. She was married to Charles Black on November 1, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1966. She was married to Olin Schamel on November 22, 1967 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryll (Paul) Obendorf of Olean; five sons, Charles (Jane) Black of Newport, Oregon, James (Debi) Black of Milan, John (Julia) Black and Bill (Dawn) Black both of North Vernon, and Scott (Aneitha) Schamel of Louisville; two stepdaughters, Pamela (David) Carroll of Floyds Knobs and Cheryl (David) Boren of New Albany; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild; one sister, Bessie Gourd of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Marvin Black of Walton, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her daughter Marla Robles, grandson Matt Obendorf, her brother Donald Jackson, and her sister Ruth Caroline Jackson.
Mrs. Schamel was a member of the Eastern Star at North Vernon and also belonged to the NRA. She had attended the Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon and the New Marion Baptist Church. Jessie had managed apartments for Cardinal Industries and also was the former manager of the North Vernon Airport.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Secrest of the First Baptist Church of Aurora officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Trilogy Fund at St. Andrew’s , the Cliff Hill Cemetery, or Matt’s Mission in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Paula Jo Kimbler
Paula Jo Kimbler, 47, of North Vernon, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011. Funeral services were held Monday, November 28 at the Butlerville Mennonite Church in Butlerville. Burial was in the Olean Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ripley County. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Henry Westerman, Jr.
Henry Westerman, Jr., 86, of Sunman, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011. Funeral services were held Monday, November 28 at Adams Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mildred E. Schwanholt
Mildred E. Schwanholt, 99, a long time resident of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at The Seasons of Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born January 23, 1912, in Dillsboro, the daughter of Henry Ohlmansiek and Katie Laaker Ohlmansiek. On September 8, 1934, she married Raymond J. Schwanholt and they were the parents of two daughters, Jean and Beverly.
Mildred and Raymond were former members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat before joining Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro in 1936.
Mildred enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, country living and being a mother to her children. She made fabulous blueberry pies and chocolate cookies that her children and grandchildren remember.
On June 19, 2004 her husband, Raymond passed away. She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Norvin) Gullion of New Palestine, and Beverly Louise Nixon of Dillsboro; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two nieces, Verna Schuette and Eileen Meyer; and one nephew, Ervin Ohlmansiek. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 29, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, with her pastor, Rev. Richard Kolaskey officiating. Friends may meet her family on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. She will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may be given to her church or to Hospice of Batesville. Arrangements are entrusted to Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Charles "Chuck" William Clayton, Jr.
Charles "Chuck" William Clayton Jr., 70, of Dillsboro, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee on August 14, 1941, the son of Charles Sr. and Velma Gilliam Clayton. Chuck married Karen McEwan in Stoughton Massachusetts on October 14, 1960 and she survives.
Other survivors include his one son, Jeff and Terri of Dillsboro, three grandchildren, Victoria "Tori", Christian, and Charles III "Trey", one sister, Charlotte "Clancy" (Phil) Eakes of Nashville Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Clayton was a Navy Airplane Captain from 1959 – 1962, founder of Versailles Christian Assembly in 1977, founder and current apostle for the Apostolic Resource Ministries/Versailles Community Church. Chuck was a member of South Ripley Ministerial Association, board member of the International Coalition of Apostles and he ministered nationally and internationally to churches.
A Celebration Service with Dr. Bob Lemon will be held on Monday, December 5 at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship at Waldron. Memorials may be given to the South Ripley Ministerial Association (SRMA) in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Carl E. (Eddie) Demaree
Carl E. (Eddie) Demaree, 73, of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. He was born May 19, 1938 in Milan, the son of Charles E. and Grace (Patrick) Demaree. He married Marjorie (Knowlton) Demaree on September 19, 1959, and she survives.
Eddie was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181 since 1959. Eddie was a member of the F&AM Milan Masonic Lodge #31. Eddie enjoyed gardening, raising tomatoes, car racing, fishing and hunting.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Demaree of Osgood; daughters, Shannon D. Demaree of Batesville, Suzanne C. Grigsby of Osgood; brother, Jack Demaree of Versailles; sisters, Fern Strimple of Columbus, Norma Lee Meachum of IL, Vivian Storie of Madison; two granddaughters, Carlene J. Eaton and August W. Grigsby; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Charles F. Demaree and James Collinsworth, and two sisters, Faye Sloan and Edna Horton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Tommy Beatley of the Delaware United Methodist Church officiating. Patricia E. "Pat" Redwine
Patricia E. "Pat" Redwine, 73, of Versailles and formerly of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at her home. She was born July 24, 1938 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Clarence Morrison and Elizabeth Torosi. She married Fred R. Redwine on September 27, 1958 and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lois Disbro of Versailles and Tracy Redwine of Versailles; two sons, Fred R. (Lisa) Redwine, Jr. of Versailles and Bart E. Redwine of Versailles; one sister, Janet Mitchelltree of Butler, PA; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Brett, Ryan, Matt, Greg, Colt, Jeremy, Josh and Brandon C.; three great grandchildren, Madison, Kaitlyn and Brock; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Clarence Morrison.
Funeral services were held at Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service, Madison, with burial in the Grandview Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 26. Virginia J. Kelso
Virginia J. Kelso, 94, of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the home of her son in Crossville, Tennessee. She was born at Shelbyville on September 7, 1917, the daughter of Herschel and Sina Spurlin Jackson. She was married to Wayne Kelso on July 26, 1936 and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1998.
Survivors include one son, Jack (JoAnn) Kelso of Crossville, Tennessee; two daughters, Sandra (Bill) Gloyd of Osgood and Sara Hatton of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Janet Heidorn and her son-in-law Steve Hatton.
Mrs. Kelso was a 1934 graduate of Shelbyville High School and was a homemaker. Virginia was long time member of the Osgood United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Ginny Hizer of the Osgood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Star Cemetery at St. Omer. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Nellie Margaret Dilk
Nellie Margaret Dilk, 85, of Greenwood, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011. She was born on June 16, 1926 in Shelbyville, KY, the daughter of the late John "Pete" and Cora Raisor.
Survivors include her husband, Edis E. Dilk "Ed"; five sons, Stephen (Kathy) Dilk, Timothy (Linda) Dilk, Daniel Dilk, David (Jill) Dilk, Philip "Skip" (Ginny) Dilk; a brother, Clifton Raisor; and nine grandchildren; Jason, Travis, Allie, Katie, Steven, Rachel, Emily, Lauren, and Amy Dilk. Also surviving are several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Danvel Raisor.
Visitation will be at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood on Saturday, December 3 from 11:30 p.m.-1:00 p.m. with the funeral starting at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.

Irvin R. Meierle
Irvin R. Meierle, 75, of New Marion, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011, at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born near New Marion on March 12, 1936, the son of Charles and Clara Matz Meierle.
Survivors include one son, Michael (Paula) Meierle of Dublin, OH; two brothers, Harold Meierle of New Marion and Garry (Janet) Meierle of Benham; two sisters, Genevieve Pickett of Los Angeles and Charlotte (Robert) Terrican of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Dalbert, Marcee and Charles Meierle, and his sisters Mary Gigerich, Evelyn Meierle and Ruth Burske.
Mr. Meierle was a 1954 graduate of New Marion High School and was a member of the St. Magdalene Catholic Church. Irvin was a former sales representative for Moor-Man Feeds, had been a farmer, electrician and had served as an engineer on a barge operating on the Mississippi River.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, December 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Magdalene Catholic Church in New Marion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rosary services at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the St. Magdalene Cemetery or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.


Ruby M. Firth
Ruby M. Firth, 82, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at her home. She was born at Milan on December 12, 1928, the daughter of Floyd and Stella Simpson Fletcher. She was married to Robert "Bine" Firth on May 22, 1950 and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Terri (Al) Turchan of Bridgeville, Delaware and Mindy (Steve) Lauber of Dillsboro; four grandsons, Nate Kingery of Dansville, New York, Nick Kingery of Oklahoma City and Alec and Drew Lauber of Dillsboro; one step granddaughter, Rochelle Turchan; two great grandchildren, Emania and Zachary Kingery; two sisters, Jean Kennedy of Versailles and Shirley (Wayne) Turner of Milan; one brother, Ron Fletcher of Versailles.
Mrs. Firth was a 1946 graduate of Milan High School and was a homemaker. She retired after 31 years of employment with the Social Security Administration in Madison.
Funeral services are pending at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Clarence Iceberg
Clarence Iceberg, 70, of Cross Plains passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born near Cross Plains on May 8, 1941 the son of Leslie and Norma Nolker Iceberg.
Survivors include his aunt Virginia Iceberg of Cross Plains; cousins Daniel (Carol) Iceberg of Cross Plains, Diane (Terry) Deamron of Greenwood, Judy (Chuck) Hall of St. Charles, Illinois, Ileene (Larry) Smith of Monroe, Michigan, Phyllis Demaree of Versailles, and Marsha Jones of Ft. Mills, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his cousins Darlene Lohide and Gary Smith.
Mr. Iceberg farmed with his father and had attended school at Pleasant and Cross Plains. Clarence was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry.
Funeral services will be today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Pastor Ralph Campen and Pastor William Stache officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Robert Keith Weber
Robert Keith Weber, 45, of Napoleon and formerly of Greensburg, passed away at his home. He was born August 16, 1966 in Greensburg, the son of Jerry and Linda (Tellas) Weber.
Robert graduated from North Decatur High School in 1984. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion American Legion Post # 129 Greensburg, and the Greensburg ABATE. He worked for Honda in Greensburg.
Survivors include his grandmother, Evelyn Weber of Greensburg; parents, Jerry and Linda (Tellas) Weber of Osgood; one sister, Laurel (Tom) Simmermeyer of Greensburg; one brother, Kevin (Angie) Weber of Greensburg; three nieces, Clarissa Simmermeyer, Megan Weber, and Mollie Weber; and one nephew, Alex Simmermeyer.

Mayme Renfro
Mayme Renfro, 92, of Holton, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at her home. She was born at Manchester, KY, on August 7, 1919, the daughter of Robert and Lizzie Keith Sizemore. She was married to Walter Renfro on December 9, 1939 and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2005.

Survivors include two sons, Walter (Linda) Renfro, Jr. of Holton and Fred (Jeanie) Renfro of Rising Sun; three daughters, Myrtle (Earl) Moberly of Holton, Donna (David) Hamilton of Rexville and Joyce (Keith) Scott of New Marion; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one brother, Woodie (June) Sizemore of Versailles; and one sister, Shirley Keeton of Versailles. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Craft, John, Vernon and Frank Sizemore, and her sisters Myrtle Lainhart, Allie Hacker, Martha Scott, Vergie Baker, Esther Baker and Jeanette Druschel.
Mrs. Renfro was a former Avon sales representative and had worked at the Holton Creamery. She and her husband Walter had spent their winters in St. Cloud, Florida for 40 years. Mayme attended the Shelby Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, with Randy Thieman of the Shelby Christian Church officiating. Iris Nita (Steele) Ryan
Iris Nita (Steele) Ryan, 82, of Milan, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Margaret Mary Community Hospital at Batesville. Iris was born September 7, 1929 in Aurora the daughter of William Frederick and Mary Edna (Myers) Steele.
She retired from working in the Mental Health Department of Dearborn County Hospital in 1991. She loved doing cross stitch, playing bingo, playing penny slots, and doing jigsaw puzzles, sewing and different crafts.
Iris is survived by sons, George Rohrig, Jr. of Osgood, Fred Rohrig, Sr. of Pierceville and Joe Ryan of Milan; daughters, Nita Gulley of Herman, Missouri, Sue Ellis of Dover, Florida, and Rolena Newman of Bremerton, Washington; brothers, Marion Steele of St. Leon and Roger Steele of Greendale; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David Ryan in 1962; a great grandson, Austin Rohrig in 1997; and brother, Frederick Steele in 1994.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 14, at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home, Moores Hill with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Lucille Hoeferkamp
Lucille Hoeferkamp, 91, of Versailles passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at her home. She was born at Friendship on January 9, 1920, the daughter of Arthur and Virgie Ellison Disbro. She was married to Earl Hoeferkamp on July 31, 1937 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1998.
Survivors include four daughters, Arlene (Jim) Evans and Norma (Terry) Woolum both of Versailles, Phyllis (John) Green of Cincinnati, and Sharon (Jerry) Benham of Aurora; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sons Elvan and Wayne Hoeferkamp, her grandson Jeff Woolum, her brothers Charles Disbro and Arthur Disbro, Jr., and her sister Eleanora Morris.
Mrs. Hoeferkamp was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church and had worked as a cook at the Versailles Elementary School and also at the Silver Bell Nursing Home. Lucille was also a homemaker and had assisted her husband Earl in farming in the Versailles community their entire married life.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Gideons or the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Ronald Louis Gillman
Ronald Louis Gillman, 70, of Batesville, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1941 in Batesville, but raised in St. Peter, Indiana. He was the son of the late Clarence & Esther (Back) Gillman. He retired from Paul Casket Co. as a casket salesman and had also worked for Batesville Casket Co. for many years.
Ron served on the Margaret Mary Community Hospital Board, was a former little league coach and helped start the soccer program in Batesville with the Kiwanis.
Ron married Carolyn Wisker and she preceded him in death on September 13, 1981. He then remarried Mellonne Moeller.
Survivors include his wife, Mellonne Gillman; sons, Tom (Sheri) Gillman and Chris (Patti) Gillman; daughters, Joan (John) Brockman and Jenny (Kirk Gibbons) Gillman; stepsons, Chad (Paulla) Moeller and Trevor (Laurie) Moeller; 20 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters, Jayne (Leon) Enneking and Peggy (Charles) Peters. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Hoog.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 14, at the St. Louis Church with Fr. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial was in the St. Louis Cemetery, Batesville. George F. Geabes
George F. Geabes, 82, of Seymour, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born at Clay City, Indiana on February 11, 1929, the son of Paul and Emma Spreen Geabes. He was married to Lou Ellen Sanders and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, George Scott (Suzann) Geabes and John P. Geabes both of Seymour; one daughter, Lou Ann (Archie) Sams of Campbellsville, Kentucky.
Mr. Geabes was a veteran of the Air Force where he served with the 373rd Squadron at Lackland, AFB, Texas. George was a former resident of Bedford and was a member Bedford F & AM #14. He was an Electronics Technician having worked for GAC, an RCA distributor in Indianapolis.
Graveside services were held Monday, November 14 at the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with Rev. David Shivers of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Brenda Bradley
Brenda Bradley, 59, of Milan, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born May 26, 1952 in Cincinnati, the daughter of Willie Vernon and Margaret Girdler Daulton. She married Billie R. Lee Bradley on April 29, 1972.
Survivors include husband, Billie R. Lee Bradley of Milan; mother, Margaret Daulton of Milan; sons, Keith (Melissa) Bradley of Sunman and Joseph Lee (Emily) Bradley of Milan; brothers, Richard Daulton of Las Vegas, NV and Wayne Daulton of Morris; sisters, Donna Marr of Fort Wayne, Verna Daulton of Lawrenceburg and Wanda Ludeker of Milan; and seven grandchildren.

Clarence (Tom) Cromer
Clarence (Tom) Cromer, 82, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. He was born at Chesney, South Carolina on April 2, 1929 the son of Albert and Molly Bolton Cromer. He was married to Dorothy Curry and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2005.
Mr. Cromer had been a heavy equipment operator and was a former employee of Randalls in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 15 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, with burial in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Irene Ertzinger
Irene Ertzinger, 74, of North Vernon, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. She was born April 5, 1937 in Batesville, the daughter of George M. and Wilma "Mae" Runner Ertzinger.
Survivors include her brother, George A. Ertzinger of Sunman; caregiver, Kathy Woods of North Vernon; and her nieces, Mildred Smith of Albany, KY and Rita Whaley of Cookeville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Edward and Lawrence Ertzinger; sister Edna Mae Tylor and housemate, June Brock.
Irene enjoyed listening to music, working puzzles and stuffed animals.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. William Powlen officiating. Carl W. Wenning
Carl W. Wenning, 91, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home in Osgood. He was born on June 16, 1920 in Clarksburg, the son of Charles L. and Mary R. (Oliger) Wenning.
Carl entered into active duty in the Army in 1942 and served his country during WWII for three years until he was honorably discharged in 1945. He was married to Ruth C. Brancamp on October 12, 1946 in Millhousen and she survives.
He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood and the V.F.W. in Napoleon.
Carl is survived by his wife; one son, Frank C. Wenning of Osgood; two daughters, Rosalie J. Calhoun of Osgood and Susan C. (Mike) Youngman of Madison; two brothers, Leo (Mary) Wenning of Tempe, AZ and Louis Wenning of Franklin; two sisters, Rose Ann Sturgis of Davenport, IA and Marjorie (Paul) Herbert of Millhousen; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Wenning of Greensburg and Theresa Wenning of Greensburg; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Donald Wenning; three sisters, Marie Kesterman, Vera Walters, Betty Vandenbosch; and one great grandson, Justin Ricke.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 7 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood with Rev. Shaun Whittington and Rev. Francis Eckstein officiating. Burial was in the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorials may be made to the family.

Willamae Bushorn
Willamae Bushorn, 90, of Lawrenceburg and formerly of Milan, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Triple Creek Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Bushorn was born May 7, 1921 in Sunman, the daughter of Russell and Rozena (Sieg) Walker. She married Virgil L. Bushorn on September 7, 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2004.
Mrs. Bushorn worked at Kirschner’s store in Milan. She was a member of the Milan First Baptist Church, Dearborn County Hospital Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary at Aurora, Eastern Star in Milan and Golden Age at Lawrenceburg.
Willamae is survived by her sons, Gary (Mary Lynn) Bushorn of Cincinnati, Robert (Lee Ann) Bushorn of Fairfield; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Alma Brock.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 5, at Milan First Baptist Church, with Pastor Harris Long and Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial was in the Old Milan Cemetery at Old Milan. Mahala Thompson
Mahala Thompson, 87, of Milan, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born March 21, 1924 in Altron, KY, the daughter of Ancie and Allie Bush Henson. She married Woodrow Thompson and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2003.
Survivors include nine daughters, Florence Thomas of Georgetown, Ohio, Carolyn Sue Watson of In-dependance, KY, Barbara Ann Davis of Morrow, OH, Judy Bruns of Gravelswitch, KY, Nora Mullins of Burnside, KY, Rebecca Turner of Holton, Elaine Evans of Carlisle, OH, Deborah Poppe of Lebanon, OH and Jacqueline Wood of Milan; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, sisters and one daughter, Mary Lou Smith.

Jacqueline Sue Mathews O'Connor
Jacqueline Sue Mathews O’Connor, 60, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born October 9, 1951 in Milan, the daughter of John Anderson and Irma Evelyn Disbro Mathews. She married Patrick Henry O’Connor, Sr., on June 22, 1968 in Aurora and he survives.
Jacqueline had been a paramedic for the city of Muskogee, OK, and also a dispatcher for Haskell, OK, police department in the early 1980’s. She had been a caregiver for many people all of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick Henry O’Connor, Sr. of Osgood; son, Patrick Henry O’Connor, Jr. of Osgood; daughters, Louquetta Rana Spinner of Osgood and Irma Hill of Osgood; brothers, Mitchell Mathews of Benson, AZ, Richard Lynn Mathews of Lawrenceburg and Wm. Mathews of Osgood; sister, Georgia Kirby of Tulsa, OK; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Mathews, Jr., and three sisters, Carolina Hammond, Marilyn Louden and Virginia Wright.

Marshall N. McClure
Marshall N. McClure, 70, of Manville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011, at his home. He was born March 29, 1941 in Manville, the son of Carroll Ray "Cal Ray" and Ila Marie Wright McClure. He married Wanda Jean Skirvin and then Mary Ann Walston Oct. 17, 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Walston McClure of Madison, one son, Shawn McClure of Scottsburg; one daughter, Robin (Jim) Fox of Madison; two stepdaughters, Eula Fay Leach of Madison and Billy Jo (Robert) Johnston of Richmond; one stepson, Richard Leach, Jr. of Dupont; six grandchildren, Leann Fox, Trenton Purvis, Desaray McClure, Katrina McClure, Abagail McClure and Jake Robinson; three step grandchildren, Kristen Claire Leach, Kendall Landon Leach and Gracie Anafay Johnston; one sister, Nancy Sargent of Bedford, KY; three aunts, Leona McClure, Mary Duncan, and Pauline Hall; one uncle, William Wright, Sr.; and one nephew, Charles Sargent. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Charles Sargent.
Mr. McClure grew up in Manville and was a graduate of the old Central High School on Ryker’s Ridge. He was called to serve in the National Guard and was deployed during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a mechanic for Sedam Construction and also owned and operated his own construction company, McClure’s Construction. He worked as an operator for the Indiana Department of Transportation and was based out of the North Vernon and Versailles facilities.
Marshall enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, watching NASCAR, working on lawnmowers and playing with his beloved dogs. He was a member of the Jefferson Post #9 of the American Legion.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, officiated by Brother George Severn. Burial will be in the Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday, at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted at the gravesite by the Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.

Lucian C. "Sonny" Ryle
Lucian C. "Sonny" Ryle, age 64, of Farmers Retreat, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Cincinnati VA Hospital following a long illness. He was born March 30, 1947 in Milan, the son of Edward Ryle and Dorothy Van Sickle Ryle.
Sonny graduated from Milan High School in 1965, and served his country in the US Navy from 1966-67. On December 21, 1968 he married Linda Huddleston, and they were blessed with two sons, Tony and Tim.
Sonny was a certified airplane mechanic, and was employed at East West Helicopter for 33 years. Linda and Sonny lived on a farm on Farmers Retreat Rd and enjoyed the outdoors life and all it had to offer. Sonny raised tobacco, and loved hunting and fishing, chopping wood, mowing lawn, and gardening. Sonny and Linda enjoyed walking in the woods and enjoying the nature around them.
Sonny loved his older cars, especially his two Camaro’s that he won several trophy’s on at car shows. He enjoyed shooting skeet with his sons.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 173 in Versailles. Sonny was a Christian, and a member of Cedars of Lebanon Fellowship, where he and Linda attended regularly.
Besides his wife, Linda, Sonny is survived by his two sons, Tony Ryle of Cross Plains, and Tim (Kelly) Ryle of Sparta, KY; three grandchildren, Luke, Shawn, and Miranda Ryle; four sisters, Sharlene Barlow, Marilyn Johnston, Sharon Davies, and Pamela Ginder. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by one sister, Nancy Clayton, who passed away in June of this year.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedars of Lebanon Fellowship, located on US 50 at 262 in Dillsboro, with Pastor Charles Hill officiating. Friends may meet his family on Tuesday, November 8, from 4-8 p.m. at Cedars of Lebanon Fellowship. He will be laid to rest in Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro with full military rites provided by the American Legion.

Clifton Wayne Jackson
Clifton Wayne Jackson, 69, of Vevay, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born March 31, 1942 in Cross Plains, the son of Howard Jackson and Lela Land. He married Agloria "Glo" (Asbury) Jackson and she survives.

Other survivors include daughter, Kelly Sparks (Ryan) of Versailles; son, Chris Jackson of Longview, TX; one stepson, James Delmar Asbury (Amanda) of Independence, KY; two sisters, Betty L. Crosby (Bill) of Shelbyville and Ruth Ann Frazee (Steve) of Columbus; one brother, Jim Holt (Sherrill) of Madison; seven grandchildren, Trey, Kiley and Lane Sparks, Kyla and Kayln Jackson, Bryce Norman and Gage Delmar Asbury; one aunt, Martha Jean Jarvis of Cross Plains; one sister-in-law, Rose Jackson of Granite Falls, NC; two brothers-in-law, Jack Asbury of Vevay and Steve Hutchins of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rebecca L. Hutchins in Oct. 1979; two brothers, Danny Lee Jackson in 1994, Raymond Lee Jackson in 2011; grandparents, Thomas and Millie Jackson, Walter Land, Dale Sr. and Leone (Vestile) Land Jarvis; one aunt, Mary Lucille (Pooch) Jarvis; one uncle, Dale "Plug" Jarvis, Jr.; and stepfather, Wilfred Zarse in 1983.
Mr. Jackson worked at Cummins Engine in Columbus and retired after 30 years. He attended Bennington United Methodist Church and graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1961. He was an avid IU basketball fan and NASCAR fan especially, Jeff Gordon. Clifton was in the US Army in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #185, Vevay, and enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at the Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor David Gingerich officiating and burial in the Salem Cemetery in Cross Plains. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services. Honor guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 will conduct military graveside services.
