Jac-Cen-Del Eagle spring sports athletes are honored at JCDHS

The annual recognition and awards program for Jac-Cen-Del High School spring sports Eagle athletes was held on Thursday evening, June 7, at the JCDHS gym.

Athletic Director Mark Meyer opened the program with a cordial welcome to athletes, their parents and guests, stating that he would like to first take the opportunity to pay tribute to all the spring athletes for their athletic and classroom achievements and to the coaches for their dedicated services.

Eagle Awards

The first award presentation on the agenda was that of Eagle Awards. Meyer stated the criteria for a JCDHS student athlete to earn the prestigious Eagle Award requires that the athlete be on the Honor Roll all year and that they must letter in at least one varsity sport.

Kelsey Bowling, Nichole Brown, Alexis Bushhorn, Jeffry Crum, Aaron Dodge, Alexander Dodge, Kayla Forbes, Torie Gilland, Ashley Hammond, Alanie Hooton, Shelbie Huffmeyer, Jenna Hughes, Meagan Hughes, Hannah Kappes, Kathleen Maloney, Jacqlyn Menchhofer, Danielle Newhart, Idona Newhart, Kelsey Pilz, Jayson Purdy, Lindsey Sutton, Thomas Tunny, Austin Wagner, Kara Wagner, Sasha Wagner, Duncan Wolff and Morgan Young.

Blanket Awards

The second award presentation was that of the Blanket Awards. The Blanket Award is presented to one senior boy and one senior girl each year based on scholastic achievement, mental attitude, dedication and athletic ability.

Having met that critreria, the award is voted on by all JCDHS varsity sport coaches.

The program continued with individual team and player recognition, made by each team's coach.

JV Softball Awards

JCDHS Reserve Softball

The Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagle reserve softball team of 2012 was led by coach Kyle Degler. The team finished their limited game season at 4-7.

Certificates were presented to: Erin Flint, Kiersten Abel, Chrissy Lewis, Jacqlyn Menchhofer, Ciara Moore, Skila Catron, Kelsey Bowling, McKenzie Strunk, Jill Gehl and Tiffany Burton.

Brittany Volz opened the season with the Lady Eagles but elected to stay with track & field.

The Jac-Cen-Del Eagle varsity boys golf team of 2012 was led by coach David Espinda. Having been rained out very few times this season, the team finished their year 4-26.

The Jac-Cen-Del Eagle varsity girls track & field team of 2012 was led by coach Tommy Hughes. Hughes, assisted by Larry Hammond, led the Lady Eagles to a season record of 16-16.

The Jac-Cen-Del Eagle varsity baseball team of 2012 was led by coach David Bradshaw. Coach Bradshaw was assisted by Jason Volz an Daniel Leonetti, with Adam Craig returning following his 2011 graduation as a manager.

The Eagles finished their overall season at 11-16, 5-7 in conference action.

The Lady Eagles finished their overall season at 5-15, 4-8 in conference action.
