Maxine Clara (Montgomery) Workman

Maxine Clara (Montgomery) Workman, 84, of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. She was born on March 14, 1929, in Holton, the daughter of the late Orel J. and Maude F. Montgomery. Maxine grew up in Ripley County. and was a loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed.

Maxine attended New Whiteland Christian Church and had previously taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. Maxine enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a faithful Christian all of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Dewey Workman; five children, Linda (David) Moody of Green Cove Springs, Florida; Rick (Sandy) Workman and their children, Stephanie and Zachary of Indianapolis; Gary (Paula) Workman and their children, Jana, Kristen, Rachel, Matt, and Jake of the San Antonio, Texas, area; David (Glennis) Workman and their child, Todd of Mooresville; Brenda (Randy) Mathews and their children, Shane and Ryan of Mooresville and two great-grandchildren; her sister Erlene Meisberger of Versailles and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amber Rae Dodds.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3 , at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Holton Cemetery in Holton. Dr. Marcella Sullivan Modisett

Dr. Marcella Sullivan Modisett passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013. A celebration of Dr. Marcella’s life was held Monday, December 2 at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison. Burial followed at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, near Madison. Memorials may be given to the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County (Jefferson County Historical Society Fund, Kentuckiana Girl Scout Fund, Rinda Raines Memorial) or the charity of the donor’s choosing. Wilbur “Red” Westerman

Wilbur “Red” Westerman of Holton, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at The Waters in Batesville. He was born January 3, 1943 in Moores Hill. His parents were Wilbur Orval and Christeen Bear Westerman. Red married Jo Ellen Bell on May 24, 1969 and she survives.

Red was a Korean Army Veteran and a member of the Batesville American Legion Post # 271, and the Faternal Order of Eagles in Batesville # 1130. He was a past 44 year employee of Batesville Casket Company.

Wilbur loved his family, friends and life. He was a great jokesman and loved playing cards. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ellen Westerman of Holton; son, Mathew Eugene (Anna) Westerman of Holton; daughter, Candi Jo (Richard) Hoegeman of Holton; brother, Orville Lee (Mary) Westerman of Bon Aqua, TN; sisters, Doris Fullmer of Osgood, Esther (Frank) Brooks of Greenwood, Patricia (Jerry) Lozier of North Vernon, Jean (Bill) O’Briant of League City, TX and Sandra Oney of Holton; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 2 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Madison. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice or the family.

James Edward Benham

James Edward Benham, 79, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. He was born Oct 16, 1934 in Decatur County, the son of Chauncey “Bud” Benham and Ruth Powers Benham.

Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict. He had many friends and helped out people when they needed help. He worked as a logger for many years.

He is survived by two daughters, Candice Woodward and Cassandra Lightner, both of Indianapolis; several grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Benham of Nebraska, and David Benham of Osgood; four sisters, Helena Fruchtnicht of Napoeon, Lois Jean Arthur of North Vernon, Phyllis Wynn of OK, and Pamela Hall of Osgood. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Edw. Benham; a stepson, Robert Moore; five brothers, Robert, Dale, Pete, John, and Victor; four sisters, Mary, Lillian, Helen, and Betty.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 2, at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro with Rev. Eugene Bustle officiating. Burial was at the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family for expenses. DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro, was in charge of arrangements.

Carl L. Redelman

Carl L. Redelman, 74, of Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. He was born, December 25, 1938 in Ripley County, the son of Lawrence A. and Marcella E. (Fry) Redelman. He was married to Mary Frances Smith on October 19, 1960 and she survives.

Carl was a farmer. He had served in the US Air Force.

He is also survived by one son, Theodore (Linda) Redelman of Greensburg; four daughters, Veronica (Kevin) Menchhofer of Versailles, Mary (William) Herbert of Greensburg, Rebecca (Bill) Dieckmann of Greensburg, Shirley (Steven) Zapfe of Greensburg; one brother, Ralph (Nancy) Redelman of Connersville; three sisters, Rosella Langlois of Indianapolis, Marita Wagner of Carmel, Betty Boing of Greensburg; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Redelman.

Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Hill officiating. Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Millhousen.
